NS-1988 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AMENDING SECTION 14-90 OF THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE TO PROVIDE FOR A SUBSCRIP- <br />TION SYSTEM FOR PARAMEDIC SERVICES <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That section 14-90 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 14-90. Fees for paramedic services. <br /> <br /> The city may establish and may collect fees for trans- <br />portation of persons in paramedic or other fire department <br />vehicles owned by the City of Santa Ana to a hospital for <br />medical care and for services rendered to persons by para- <br />medics and for services and medical care rendered to persons <br />by paramedics using City of Santa Ana owned paramedic vehicles <br />or other City of Santa Ana Fire Department vehicles where the <br />person is not transported by a city-owned paramedic or other <br />fire department vehicle. The city council may establish such <br />fees by resolution. <br /> <br /> The fire chief shall notify the director of finance <br />following such transportation medical care, or services, in <br />writing, of the name and address of the person, date and time <br />of the transportation, medical care, or services performed, <br />and such other information as may be required. The director <br />of finance shall thereafter cause appropriate billings to be <br />made. <br /> <br /> The amount of such fees charged shall be deemed a debt <br />to the city of the person or persons receiving said services <br />and, if minors, their parents or guardians. Any person owing <br />money shall be liable in an action brought in the name of the <br />city for recovery of such amount, including reasonable attorney <br />fees. <br /> <br /> The Executive Director of Finance and Management Services <br />may establish a subscription system whereby households and <br />businesses within the city, in return for payment of a periodic <br />subscription charge, may receive paramedic services without pay- <br />ment of any other fee. The amount of such subscription charge <br />shall be set by resolution of the city council. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause, <br />phrase or portion of this ordinance is for any reason held to <br />be invalid or unconstitutional by the decision of any court of <br />competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the <br /> <br /> <br />
