REL:mb(34) <br />10/14/88 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO NS-]99] <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />CALLING FOR A SPECIAL ELECTION TO BE <br />HELD IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA TO FILL <br />A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF COUNCIL- <br />MEMBER FROM WARD 6. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the office of Councilmember of the City of <br />Santa Ana from Ward 6 has become vacant due to the assumption <br />by the last incumbent therein of the office of Mayor; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Santa Ana directs <br />the City Council to call a special election to fill the vacancy; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA <br />ANA DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: A special election is hereby called to be held <br />in the City of Santa Ana, California, on April 4, 1989 to fill <br />the office of Councilmember of the City of Santa Ana from Ward <br />6 for the unexpired portion of the term of the last incumbent <br />thereof, as hereinafter specified. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: The said special election shall be conducted in <br />accordance with the Elections Code of the State of California, <br />and the Clerk of the Council is hereby authorized and directed <br />to take all actions necessary or appropriate with respect there- <br />to, except to the extent such actions may be undertaken by the <br />Registrar of Voters of the County of Orange. The Clerk of the <br />Council is further authorized to retain for the City of Santa <br />Ana the services of said Registrar of Voters with regard to <br />such actions upon such terms and for such compensation as said <br />Registrar of Voters shall establish in accordance with the <br />standard practices of the County of Orange. <br /> <br />ADOPTED this ]9th day of December , 1988. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />/~F~ice C.
