376 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. NS-2041 <br />PAGE SIXTEEN <br /> <br />the unexpired portion of the license tax paid on the vehicle <br />for hire which has been replaced shall be that portion of the <br />annual tax which is equal to one-twelfth (1/12) of said tax <br />multiplied by the number of full months remaining during the <br />current licensing year. <br /> <br /> Whenever a vehicle licensed as a vehicle for hire by the <br />provisions of this chapter is replaced by another vehicle for <br />hire, a transfer fee as established by resolution of the city <br />council, in addition to the license tax, shall be paid by the <br />owner of the vehicle. The previously issued vehicle permit or <br />device shall be surrendered at the time the transfer is made. <br /> <br />SECTION 10: That section 32-7 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 32-7. Affixing of vehicle permit and device evidencing <br /> permit. <br /> <br /> The director of finance or his designated agent shall, <br />affix a vehicle permit to the vehicle for hire, in the lower <br />left hand corner of the rear window, provided, however, that <br />he shall not affix such permit to any vehicle which does not <br />have an unexpired sticker affixed to it by the California <br />Highway Patrol, Santa Ana Police or Orange County Sheriff, <br />evidencing that the vehicle has passed a safety inspection. <br /> <br />SECTION 11: That section 32-14 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code <br />is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 32-14. Employment of qualified drivers. <br /> <br /> Every holder of a vehicle for hire permit in the City <br />of Santa Ana shall employ as drivers only persons who are <br />physically, mentally and emotionally fit and able to perform <br />such duties. It shall be the responsibility of the holder <br />to select and employ drivers who are familiar with the street~ <br />and addresses in the City of Santa Ana. No holder shall <br />employ or retain in employment any person as a driver who <br />violates laws governing morals, motor vehicle operations, or <br />provisions of this chapter. <br /> <br /> It shall be a misdemeanor for any holder of a vehicle <br />for hire permit in the City of Santa Ana to employ a driver <br />who has not first been issued a driver's permit under the <br />provisions of this chapter, and a violation of this provision <br /> <br /> <br />
