NS-2093 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SANTA ANA AMENDING THE SANTA ANA MUNICIPAL <br />CODE BY ADDING SECTION 8-6 TO THE SANTA ANA <br />MUNICIPAL CODE REGARDING LICENSE REQUIREMENTS <br />OF CONTRACTORS AND SUBCONTRACTORS. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Santa Ana does ordain as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: That the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby <br />amended by adding a section to be numbered 8-6, which said section <br />reads as follows: <br /> <br />Section 8-6. License Requirements of Contractors. <br /> and Subcontractors. <br /> <br />(1) No person shall be issued a permit to perform work <br />requiring a permit under the city's building, plumbing, <br />mechanical or electrical code, unless they are: <br /> <br />ae <br /> <br />A licensed contractor; <br />An employee of a licensed contractor; <br />The property owner performing their own work; <br />An employee of the owner, provided that the owner <br />shows evidence of workers' compensation insurance <br />required by state and city law, and their federal <br />tax identification number. <br /> <br />(2) At the time of permit issuance, the applicant shall <br />submit a list of all subcontractors, and provide verifi- <br />cation of each subcontractor's workers compensation <br />insurance, State contractor license and license category, <br />city business license and Federal tax identification <br />number. No person shall contract or subcontract con- <br />struction work without a valid contractor's license <br />pursuant to applicable provisions of the State of Cali- <br />fornia Business and Professions Code. <br /> <br />(3) In the event that the applicant cannot provide a <br />complete list of valid subcontractors upon permit <br />application, the applicant shall provide to the City, <br />within a reasonable period of time after issuance of each <br />permit but prior to commencement of any work pursuant to <br />said permit, all information required by subsection (2) <br />above. Failure to provide valid and current subcontractor <br />listings prior to commencing work shall result in: (1) <br />revocation of any permit issued by the city, and (2) the <br /> <br /> <br />
