NS- 2116 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AMENDING DIVISIONS 1 THROUGH 6 OF ARTICLE <br />XI OF CHAPTER 41 OF THE SANTA ANA MUNI- <br />CIPAL CODE, TO REVISE THE ZONING REGULA- <br />TIONS PERTAINING TO ON-PREMISE ADVER- <br />TISING SIGNS IN THE CITY GENERALLY. <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That Division 1 of Article XI of Chapter 41 of the <br />Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby repealed, and Article XI of <br />Chapter 41 of the Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by <br />adding a new division, to be numbered 1, which said new Division 1 <br />consists of sections 41-850 through 41-851 and reads as follows: <br /> <br />DIVISION 1. GENERAL PROVISIONS <br /> <br />Sec. 41-850. Purpose. <br /> <br />The purpose of this article is to establish a system for <br />the control of the size, location, type and number of signs <br />located on private property in the City of Santa Ana according <br />to reasonable and nondiscriminatory standards. Such <br />regulation is deemed necessary to enhance the quality of the <br />visual environment, thereby promoting commerce, improving <br />community identity, conserving property values, improving <br />traffic safety, and promoting the health, safety and general <br />welfare of the people. <br /> <br />Sec. 41-851. scope. <br /> <br />(a) This article applies to all signs and advertising <br />displays in all zoning districts except as otherwise provided <br />in this section. <br /> <br />(b) This article does not apply to signs and advertising <br />displays of the fOllowing types and descriptions: <br /> <br />(l) Any billboard or other off-premfse commercial <br />advertising sign regulated by Article XII of this <br />chapter. <br /> <br />(2) Any sign located in the public right-of-way and <br />installed or maintained by the Public Works Agency <br /> <br />1 <br />
