<br />r <br /> <br />.129 <br /> <br />facilities not operated within an enclosed building. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />sec. 41-1602. purpose. <br /> <br />The purpose of the standards detailed herein is to reduce the <br />potential impacts caused by the inappropriate operation of junk <br />yards, salvage yards, automobile wrecking yards, impound ards, <br />vehicle storage facilities, and commercial vehicle storage <br />facilities. These uses may be detrimental to surrounding and uses <br />and values due to noise, fumes and aesthetic and en ronmental <br />degradation. <br /> <br />(a) Junk yards, salvage yards, automob' e wrecking yards, <br />impound yards, vehicle storage facilities, a commercial vehicle <br />storage facilities shall conform to the use strict limitations on <br />location established by Article III of thi chapter, including any <br />applicable requirement for a conditional se permit. <br /> <br /> <br />Sec. 41-1603. Location. <br /> <br />(b) In addition, no junk yard salvage yard, automobile <br />wrecking yard, impound yard, veh'cle storage facility, or <br />commercial vehicle storage facility all be established within 500 <br />feet of property zoned or used for open space or residential land <br />uses. <br /> <br />Sec. 41-1604. Screening. <br /> <br /> <br />(a) The operations of junk yard, salvage yard, automobile <br />wrecking yard, impound rd, vehicle storage facility, or <br />commercial vehicle storag facility shall be screened by a solid <br />wall from adjacent prope ies and public streets. All screening <br />walls shall be located ehind required setbacks and landscaped <br />areas. Screening wal s, facing a public right of way, shall <br />contain a landscape e clave, a minimum of five (5) feet wide and <br />five (5) feet deep fo every thirty-five (35) feet of wall length. <br />In no instance sh 1 the screening wall encroach within the <br />required front yar setback. <br /> <br />(b) The st rage of wrecked vehicles, auto parts, equipment <br />and/or salvage aterials shall take place behind a walled yard. <br />Salvage materi ls or wrecked vehicles shall not be piled higher <br />than the wal within the front twenty-five (25) feet of the <br />enclosed yar facing a public right of way. In no instance shall <br />the stacks f materials be higher than twelve (12) feet on the <br />site. <br /> <br />(c) No salvage materials, wrecked automobiles, automobiles <br />purchased for salvage, impounded vehicles or vehicles stored on <br />site shall be permitted to remain outside the solid walls <br />surrounding the site. <br /> <br />5 <br />
