The access roadway shall be extended to <br />within one hundred fifty (150) feet of all portions of the <br />exterior walls of the first story of any building. Where the <br />access roadway cannot be provided, approved fire protection <br />system or systems shall be provided as required and approved <br />by the fire marshal. <br /> <br /> (c) Fire protection alternate. Where fire protection <br />systems approved by the fire marshal are provided, the above <br />required clearance may be modified. <br /> <br /> (d) Oversizing. The fire marshal shall have the authority <br />to require an increase in the minimum access width where such <br />width is not adequate for fire or rescue operations. <br /> <br /> (e) Bridges. Where a bridge is required to be used as <br />access under this section, it shall be constructed and <br />maintained in accordance with the applicable sections of the <br />building code and using design live loading sufficient to <br />carry the imposed loads of the fire apparatus. <br /> <br />(b) Subsection 902.2.2 of the Uniform Fire Code is deleted. <br /> <br /> (c) Subsection 902.2.4.1 of the Uniform Fire Code is amended <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />902.2.4.1 Obstruction of emergency access lanes. <br /> <br />(a) Obstructing emergency access lane. <br /> <br />(1) <br /> <br />The required width of any fire apparatus access road <br />shall not be obstructed in any manner. Minimum required <br />widths and clearances established under this section <br />shall be maintained at all times. <br /> <br />(2) <br /> <br />No person shall cause or permit any vehicle, including, <br />but not limited to, automobile, motorcycle, truck, <br />bicycle or any other vehicle in his control or ownership, <br />to be stopped in an area designated for emergency <br />vehicles. <br /> <br />(3) <br /> <br />This section applies to all nonemergency vehicles <br />whatsoever, attended or unattended, stopped for any <br />length of time except when necessary to avoid conflict <br />with other traffic or in compliance with directions of a <br />police officer or fireman. <br /> <br />Any vehicle found in violation of this section may be <br />towed at the owner's or operator's expense at the request <br />of any Santa Ana police officer, parking control officer, <br />California Highway Patrol officer, Orange County deputy <br /> <br /> <br />
