N$-2288 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA <br />AMENDING THE BUILDING CODE TO REDUCE THE <br />MINIMUM FLOOR AREA FOR EFFICIENCY UNITS <br />IN SINGLE ROOM OCCUPANCY HOTELS <br /> <br /> THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DOES ORDAIN AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION 1: The Santa Ana Municipal Code is hereby amended by <br />adding a section, to be numbered 8-120, which said section reads as <br />follows: <br /> <br />Seo. 8-120. <br /> <br />Efficiency dwelling units (volume 1, Section <br />310.7). <br /> <br />Section 310.7 of Volume 1 of the building code is amended to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />310.7 BfficiencyDwelling Units. An efficiency dwelling unit <br />shall conform to the requirements of the code except as <br />herein provided: <br /> <br /> 1. The unit shal% have a living room of not less than <br />220 square feet (20.4m') of superficial floor area; except <br />that in any single room occupancy hotel constructed pursuant <br />to a conditional use permit or specific development plan <br />granted or adopted for such use pursuant to Chapter 41 of the <br />Santa Aha Municipal Code, the minimum floor space for the <br />living room shall be 150 square feet, unless a higher minimum <br />floor space is required by the conditional use permit or <br />specific development plan. An additional 100 square feet <br />(9.3m~ of superficial floor area shall be provided for each <br />occupant of such unit in excess of two. <br /> <br />2. The unit shall be provided with a separate closet. <br /> <br /> 3. The unit shall be provided with a kitchen sink, <br />cooking appliance and refrigeration facilities, each having <br />a clear working space of not less than 30 inches (762mm) in <br />front. Light and ventilation conforming to this code shall <br />be provided. <br /> <br /> 4. The unit shall be provided with a separate bathroom <br />containing a water closet, lavatory and bathtub or shower. <br /> <br /> S~CTION 2: This ordinance is adopted pursuant to the <br />authority granted to cities by section 17958.1 of the Health and <br />Safety Code of the State of California. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br /> <br />
