Absent, The President of the Board being absent, Trustee Alderman was regularly elected Presi- dent pro tom and called the Board to order. A letter from ~Alda Gilmaker was read and ordered file~. Black to build a corrugated iron building on rear of Oilmaker property was on motion denied. # Ayes, NOOS, # The President pro tom having announced the time having arrived to open bide for the collection of City garbage, ~he Olerk proceeded to open bids. Caulfield & Clary bid $E50.00 per month. J.P. Stevens bid $B50.00 per month. Frank S. Adams bid $$05.00 per month. On motion of Gr~bb, zeconded by McPhee and carried the matter was referred to a committee, consisting of Greenleaf, MoPhee and Dr.J.I. Olark; said committee to report at a meeting to be held September 7, 19lB at ? p.m. On motion of Grubb, seconded by McPhee to make a horizontal raise of ten per cent ~n the assessed valuation of the City of Santa Asa, was loot by'the following vote to-wit: Trustees NcPhee and Grubb. Hanning 'to lay a cement curb and cement sidewalk along the North side of ~aat Fourth Street from the Santa Ne Railroad to Grand Avenue was on motion referred tp a comittee consisting of Trustees Gr~bb and Alderman. A remonstrance signed by F.H. Taylor et al, remonstrating against the narrowing of East Foumth Street was on motion denied. # The petition of Geo. R. Wells et al, to lay cement curbs and cement sidewalks on the North side of BOth Street bet- ween the Easterly line of Bush Street and the Westerly line of Spurgeon Street was oh motion granted, p~ovided however, tt~t the request be signed by all of the proper~y owners interested.
