Bi,. 1914 a~ B p.m., <br /> <br />The Board met in regular adjourned session. <br /> <br />Present Trustees, Alderman, McPhee, ~reenleaf, <br /> <br />Board cal~ed to order by President Frank ~y. <br /> <br />In Rs Paving South <br />Birch Street <br /> <br />In Re Farmers &Mar. <br />Nat'l Bank Building <br /> <br />Orubb, ~y and the Clerk. <br /> <br />The ~etition of g.B. Smith, et al, property owners <br /> <br />on Birch Street between the South line of ~irst St. <br /> <br />and the ~orth line of Fairview in the City of Santa <br /> <br />Aha, petitioned the Board to take the necessary steps <br />requiring the ~avement of the said street in accordance <br />with the specifications as shown in Specifications ~o. <br /> <br />94 of the City of Los Angeles. The cost of the paving <br /> <br />of street intersections to be borne l~roportionatsly by <br />the property owners on said street, the concrete base <br />to be 4 inches thick and ~he asphaltic concrete wearing <br />surface to be 1 inch thick. <br /> <br />On motion of Alderman, seconded by MoPhee, it is ordered <br />that the prayer of the petition be granted, provided how- <br />ever, that the street be paved under the specifications <br />~o. BO of the Oity of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> On motion of Orubb, d~ly seconded and carried, it <br /> ordered that the contractor be allowed to open five blocks <br /> on South ]~rioh Street for the purpose of ~ading and that <br /> as soon as the said five blocks are in suitable shape for <br /> ~raffic the contractor will be allowed to open the balance <br /> of the street. <br /> <br /> On motion of Orubb, seconded by Alderman and carried, the <br /> Street Oommittee are empowered to employ m~m soon as necess- <br /> ary a Street Inspector to inspect the work on ~outh <br /> <br /> Messrs. J.A. Turner, O.A. Rig,s and W.A. I~zff for the Farmers <br /> <br /> & Merchants ~ational Bank of Santa Aha, appeared before the <br /> Boardand stated their intention of building a Class "Am <br /> buildin~ at the ~outhwest corner of Fourth and Main Streets <br /> in the City of Santa Aha and requested the privilege to arrays <br /> fire escapes cn said building in accordance with the fire <br /> escape emotion of Class "A" building of the Los Angeles City <br /> Ordinance; and fire escapes and water connections in accord- <br /> ance with arrangements made with the Committee appointed by <br /> the 2card to investigate as to fire escapes and water connec- <br /> tions, and that one fire escape be installed at the end of <br /> the hall on the west wall of the said building, and it is <br /> understood and a~reed that only one fire escape need be iz- <br /> stalled on ~he building.
