In Re <br /> <br />Curb West 10th St, <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Road 0tl <br /> <br />P.~.Ourv~,4th ~ Main <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Public Speaking <br /> <br />In Re Removal of~ Trees <br /> <br /> streets for the distribution of electric current for <br /> lighting purposes only. <br /> Under these two decisions Sc~thern Cal.~diao~ <br /> Company has a franchise right under the Oonetitution <br /> to occupy the streets of Santa Ana with its electric <br /> distributing system for distributing electric current <br /> for lighting ~urposee, and is only required to obtain <br /> from the City a franchise for distributing current for <br /> power and heating purposes. Said Company has such a <br /> franchise and should therefore be required to pay only <br /> under the franchise inquestion, vim: Specially granted <br /> ~ranchise, a percentage upon the gross receipts by it <br /> received from the distribution and sale of current for <br /> heating and power purposes." <br /> <br /> This report was on motion of Trustee Tubbs, dmly eecon~ <br /> ed by McPhee, accepted by m~animoue vote. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Maryatt, duly seconded by Green- <br /> leaf, that the curbing on Tenth St., between Ross and <br /> Van Ness be put in under the Vrooman Act procedure, <br /> carried. <br /> <br /> · motion made by Trustee Tubbs that the City accept <br /> the offer made by the Gilleepie Co., to furnish the <br /> City a grade of 75 per cent asphaltic road oil at <br /> $1.§0 per bbl., heated and applied, was duly seconded <br /> by Maryatt and carried. <br /> <br />Trustee Tubba made the following report of the Joint <br />Ccmmit~ee consisting of A.N.Zerman and J.C.Met--gar of <br />the M.& M.Assoc., R.L.Bisby and O.S.Xendall of the <br />Chamber of Commerce, and Trustees Tubbs and Greenleaf <br />o~the Board in reference to granting the Pacific ~lec- <br />tric Railroad 0o., a curve on the Northwest corner of <br />4th and Main ets., that a curve would be granted them <br />under the following conditions; that the Company put <br />in trilby rails from Baker to the S.P.track on East <br />Fourth Street on or before two years, pave the strip <br />on FASt Fourth from the Santa Fe tracks to the gaet <br />City limits, remove poles on 4th from Ross to Mortimer <br />and on Main from 4th to 6th; all through Santa Aha <br />cars to read Santa Aha; all through Orange cars to <br />read Santa Aha & Orange, for which the City would gran <br />said curve and abandon the franchise on East 4th beyon~ <br />the Santa Fe tracks. A motion by Trustee Tubbe that <br />the 0ity Attorney be instructed to present this offer <br />in writing to the Pacific Electric Ry. Co., was duly <br />seconded by Greenleaf and carried. <br /> <br />A motion by Trustee Tubbe that the public speaking <br /> <br />restricted district be extended to Broadway including <br />Broadway on the North side of 4th to take effect ~n <br /> <br />$0 days was duly seconded by Greenleaf and carried. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee McPhee, duly seconded by Tubbs an~ <br /> <br /> <br />
