On motion of <br /> <br /> McBride, seconded by Goods and carried, the Notice <br /> was accepted and ordered placed on file. <br /> <br /> On motion of '~l~$e~.Enox, seconded by Goods and <br /> carried, communication fromA.S. Dudley, Secret~r' <br /> reference to Annual Convention of the Zeague cf <br /> Calif. Municipalities leptenfoer 19th to 25th at <br /> Sacramento, was accepted and placed on file. <br /> <br /> A protest was read signed by property owners and <br /> residents in the vicinity of 8th and ~eStern Ave- <br /> nue against the opening of a gravel pit by J.R. <br /> Gilliland near 8th and Western Avenue. On motion <br /> of ~r~S~e~ Ooode, seconded by Kelly and carried, <br /> the Chair was authorized to appoint a committee to <br /> investigate and report back next meeting. Council <br /> men Goods, McBride and Kelly appointed as such <br /> committee. <br /> <br /> On motion of ~v~eti$~a McBride, seconded by Knox <br /> and carried, petition of property owners on East <br /> Fourth Street for constructlnn of subway, was re- <br /> ferred back to pi~itioners for additi~al signa- <br /> tures, after which the Board will proceed wi~h con <br /> s~ruction of subway. <br /> <br />Colonel Winans appeared before the Board in behal <br />of the National Guards and asked for a contributic <br />from the City in amount of $100.00 toward expense. <br />of encampment. On motion cf ~u~i~ ~cBride, <br />duly seconded by Kelly and carried, the request <br />was granted and the Clerk authorized to draw war- <br />rant in amount of $100.00 fram Advertising ~und <br />in favor of National Guards Co.
