F. Burke, publisher of <br />the S2nta Ana Register, with reference to the prices set <br />forth in his bid for City Advertising, was received and <br />filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Hasenjaeger and <br />carried, all bids for City Advertising were rejected and <br />the City Clerk was instructed to advertise for new bids. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee McBride, <br />ried, the application of the <br /> <br />seconded by Warner and car- <br />~hell Oil Company for a per- <br /> <br />mit to erect a service station at the northwest corner <br />of First and Bush Streets, was referred to the Planning <br />Co~mmission. On motion of Trustee Warner, seconded by <br />McBride and carried, the recon~nendation of the Planning <br />Commission was accepted and the application of the Shell <br />Oil Company was granted to erect a service station at the <br />northwest corner of First and Bush Streets. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Warner, seconded by Penn and carried <br />the application of Vincent N. Ballester for permission to <br />cut the curb 5G feet O~ Franklin Street and SZ feet on <br />West First Street at his service station, was referred to <br />the City E~ineer and Trustee Hasenjaeger. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Hasenjaeg~r, seconded by McBride and <br />carried, the application of the Motorcycle Sports Asso- <br />ciation for the use of the Municipal Bowl for motorcycle <br />races on the basis of ten percent of the gross receipts <br />with a minimum of t~50.00 to the City, was granted. <br /> <br />A resolution was introduced as follows: <br /> <br /> "V~EREAS, the Southern Pacific Comoany and the Atchison <br />Topeka and Santa Fe R~ilway Company ~ave ~ade application' <br />to remove tb~ gates of their railroad crossi~zs on East <br />Fourth Street in the City of Santa Aha, California; and <br /> WHerEAS, said request is now pending before the State <br />Railroad Commission; and <br /> Wtf2REAS, the State Railroad Commission has set said <br />applications for hearing on September 2, 19Z~, at lO:ZO <br />A.M., in the City of Santa Aha; and <br /> ~HEREAS, after investigation sad. hearing on the part of <br />said Bo~rd of Trustees of the Cit~ of Santa Aha, it is <br />believed that the removal of said gates would jeopardize <br />the safety of the public and result in greator injury to <br />t~he public than is now existing: <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that it is the sense of <br />the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aha that said <br />gates should remain, and in t~hat respect said Board of <br />Trustees of the City of Santa Ana hereby officially <br /> <br /> <br />
