Council Ohambers <br /> <br />Santa Ana City Hall. <br /> <br />March Elst, 1938o ?:30 P.M. <br /> <br />City Council met in regular session. <br /> <br />Meeting called to order by Mayor Rowland. <br /> <br />Present: Trustees Plummer W. Bruns, Joseph P. Smith, <br /> W. H. Penn, Ernest H. Layton, Fred C. Rowland. <br /> <br /> Absent: Trustees None. <br /> <br />Each Trustee having received a copy 'of the Minutes, <br />further reading of the Minutes of March 7th, 9th, <br />10th, llth, 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th, <br />1939, was dispensed with and the Minutes were approved <br />on motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Applicatibn <br /> <br />Ilene B.' H.C. Meehan. <br /> <br /> There being no written or oral objections, on motion of <br /> tee Layton, seconded by Penn and carried, the application of <br /> Ilene B. Lunt for permission to erect a duplex on Lot 2, <br /> Block A, Tract No. §84, which is the northeast corner of <br /> Orange and Wakeham Streets, was referred to the Planning <br /> Commission for further recommendation. <br /> <br /> On motion of TruStee Penn, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br /> the application of Edwards Bros. to erect a service station <br /> on Lots 37 and 39, Park Addition to Santa Ana, being the <br /> northwest corner of First and Broadway, ~as referred to the <br /> Planning Commission for recommendation. <br /> <br /> Petitions ~ith signatures of ~9 property owners ~n the West <br /> Orange vicinity, were read, protesting the reconstruction of <br /> the Santa ~na Boulevard bridge across the Santa Ana River <br /> <br /> as the same was constructed prior to the the recent flood <br /> be constructed <br /> and requesting that a steel or ~concrete span bridge/of suffi- <br /> <br />cient height as not to interfe~with the flow of the current <br />End collect debris to cause the river to over-flow. On <br />motion of. Trustee Stuns, seconded by Penn and carried, the <br />petitions of West Orange property owners, were referred to <br />a committee to be appointed by the Mayor to consult with the <br />petitioners for future plans to reconstruct the Santa Ana <br />Boulevard bridge. Trustees Layton and Bruns and Engineer <br />McBride were appointed as the committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Bruns and carried, <br />the communication of W. M. Dickie, Director of the Dept. of <br />Public Health acknowledging receipt of Resolution No. 25§6 <br />protesting any establishment of sewage treatment plants <br />along the Santa Ana River, was received 'and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Bruns, seconded by Layton and carried, <br />the communication of Captain H. C. Meehan expressing appreci~ <br />tion of the local California Highway Patrol office force for <br /> <br /> <br />
