Yost, Plummet W. <br /> <br /> Noes, Trustees None. <br /> <br /> Absent, Trustees None. <br /> ~yor Bruns administered the oath of office to the newly <br /> ppointed City Clerk, Erma Keeler. <br /> <br /> The Clerk recommended the appointment/Marion Buttner as <br /> Deputy Clerk and William W. Garvin and Arthur W. Angle as <br /> Deputy Clerks, acting as License Inspectors. <br /> <br /> On motion of Trustee Xelsey, seconded by Hill and carried, <br /> the recommendation of the Clerk for appointments of her <br /> deputies, was concurred in. <br /> <br /> # <br /> <br /> 2991 and <br /> <br />D. W. Kelsey, Herbert L. Hill, <br />Bruns, Joseph P. Smith. <br /> <br />Ohief <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, seconded by Yost and carried, <br /> <br />the following Resolution: <br /> <br />"Resolution of Sorrow and Condolence upon the Death of <br />City Clerk E. L. Vegely <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br />That in the death of our City Clerk E. L. Vegely, the <br />surviving city officials and general citizenry of the City <br />· of SantaAna have suffered a severe loss. <br />That upon his death on Thursday evening, the 4th day of <br />September, 1941, this City was depriwed of the services of a <br />true and faithful public servant who has served this City <br />with affability and friendliness toward all of its citizens, <br />and with justice and equality in all particulars, over a <br />period of more than 26 years. The death of this public ser- <br />vant creates a feeling of sadness and irrecoverable loss <br />which is felt throughout the City. <br />WHEREFORE, the City Council does hereby make a permanent <br />and official record of the sorrow and grief resulting from <br />his death, and does direct that a certified copy of this <br />resolution be forwarded to his widow and bereaved family in <br />order that they may know the feeling of the community which <br />he served so faithfully and well, and that in their sorrow <br />and grief they are Joined by the entire $ity, and <br />Th~ board hereby expressed to the bereaved widow and ~ <br />family their sincere and heartf.elt sympathy, but realizes, a~ <br />the same time, that words cannot replace the loss of one who. <br />was beloved by all who knew him. <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of <br />Banta Aha, at a special meeting held on the 5th day of <br />September,. 1941.# <br /> <br />was read, cons,idered, designated Resolution No. 2992 and <br /> <br />passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Trustees Herbert L. L. Vegely. <br /> <br />books of <br /> <br />deceased, <br /> <br /># <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Smith, <br /> <br /> seconded by Hill and carried, <br /> <br />the City Clerk was instructed to notify the following banks: <br /> <br /> First.National Bank of Santa Ana, Security First National <br />Bank of Los Angeles, Commercial National Bank and the Bank <br />o~ America, <br /> <br />that E. L. Vegely has passed away and funds in these account~ <br />belong to the City of Santa Aha and that said funds are to <br />be transferred to new accounts of Erma Keeler aS City Clerk. <br /> <br /> <br />
