<br /> Employees who are in positions of "Acting", higher than
<br />their permanent classification, shall receive the rate in such
<br />acting position as they would if they had been regularly
<br />promoted to it. It was and is the intent of the City COuncil
<br />that any employees in such "acting" status shall receive the
<br />next higher rate assigned to the classification in which they
<br />are acting than the rate they were receiving as of May 1, 1948,
<br />in their regular classification.
<br /> Any such "acting" employee who may subsequently be
<br />regularly appointed to the position in which he was "acting",
<br />will be given service credit for salary purposes for the time
<br />in which he served in an "acting" status.
