<br /> On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney and carried, request
<br /> of Veterans Day Association for permission to stage a circus in
<br /> place of a football game in the Municipal Bowl, November llth,
<br /> 194S, was g~anted.

<br /> Communicati'on was read from Traffic Safety Commission requesting
<br /> pro te s~t ing
<br /> more time to study petition/es, tablishment of Sycamore Street as a
<br />
<br /> one-way street, and on motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Cheney
<br /> and carried, communication was received and filed.
<br />
<br /> Communication was read from C.H. Eckles, Owner, Santa Ana Bus
<br /> Service requesting permission for his buses to leave St. Gertrude
<br /> Place and Garnsey Street and to traverse St. Gertrude, Lowell,
<br /> Glenwood, Flower Streets and return to the starting point, and on
<br /> motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by ChanCy and carried, matter was
<br /> held up for further study.
<br />
<br /> On recommendation of the committee and on motion of Trustee Mandy,
<br /> seconded by Reed and carried, the bid of the Municipal Fire Equip-
<br />
<br /> ment Company covering the furnishing of 3000 ft. 2}" "B.F.G."
<br /> per .ft.
<br /> double jaCket w/Underwriters' Label, fire hose at $0.998/and 100 fl

<br /> Communication was read from Mrs. Bruce Gardner Parks requesting
<br /> that four-way stop signal be installed at the intersection of
<br /> Fourth and Flower Streets, and on motion of Trustee Cheney, second,
<br /> by Chandler and carried, Clerk was directed to advise Mrs. Parks
<br /> that four-way automatic signals have been ordered for the inter-
<br /> section and such equipment will be installed as soon as possible.
<br /> On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee
<br /> Chancy, seconded by Chandler and carried, the Clerk was authorized
<br /> to advertise for bids covering the furnishing of a motor grader
<br /> having a motor of 78 to 85 horsepower; 12 foot blade; tires to be
<br />
<br />not less than 1~"x24" and the same size on all six wheels;alternate
<br />bids to be submitted on graders of the 100 H.P. class with 12 ft.
<br />blade and all tires not less,than 14"x24"; bids to be opened Oct.

<br /> On recommendation of the City Engineer and on motion of Trustee

<br />Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, the Clerk was authorized to
<br />advertise for bids covering the furnishing of 20,000 feet of 6
<br />inch and 15,000 feet of 8 inch, class 180, cement lined, bell and
<br />.spigot, cast iron pipe; bids to be opened October 18th, 1948.
<br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried, the
<br />following Resolution entitled:

<br /> "Resolution of the City Council of the City
<br /> of Santa Aha, proposing to annex certain
<br /> t~rritory to the City of Santa Ana, describing
<br /> said territory and giving notice of the time
<br /> and place of a public hearing at which said
<br /> hearing any person owning property in such
<br /> territory may appear and show cause why said
<br /> property should not be annexed."
