No. 3389 <br /> <br />Declaring Weeds <br /> <br />a Nuisance <br /> <br />Co., in the amount of $4,238.74 covering Franchise Tax <br />under Ord. 1069 for one year ending Dec. 31, 1944, was <br />referr~d to the Auditor for checking and ordered deposit~ <br />,, <br /> <br />A Resolution of the Santa Aha City Board of Education <br />was presented requesting the Council to vacate that <br />portion of lSth St., which lies within the proposed <br />Junior College site, being that portion of lSth St., <br />described as follows: starting at Bristol St. and exte~ <br />lng 2015.63 feet west to the we~t bo~mdary line of the <br />new Junior College site. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon aud <br />carried, the Resolution was referred to the City Enginee~ <br />with instructions that he confer with the Board of <br /> <br />Education relative to working out an agreement in regard <br />to vacating 15th St., and to report back at next mesting~ <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and <br />carried, the bond of Flora Sauers, Deputy Treasurer, <br />written by the Hartford Accident & Indemnity Co., iu the <br />amount of ~$2~,000.00, was approved. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and <br />carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br /> "Resolution Ahtborizing Execution of Oil <br /> and Gas Lease with D.W.Elliott, As Lessee" <br /> <br />provided all other designated parties to said agreement <br />adopt like resolutions and also execute said agreement~ <br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3388 and <br />passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, Trustees <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees <br />Absent ,Trustees <br /> <br />Dale G. Haan <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Deckert and <br /> <br />carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"A Resolution of the City Council of the City of <br />Santa Aha determining and declaring that weeds which <br />bear seeds of a wingy or dov~y nature and attain <br />such a large growth as to become a fire menace <br />when dry, and which are noxious and dangerous, <br />are growing upon certain streets, sidewalks~ <br />and private property in said City of Santa Aha, <br />and are a public nuisance; directing the Street <br />Superintendent to post notices to destroy said <br />weeds as required by law; fixing the time for <br />heariug objections and protests, and directing <br />the abatement thereof in accordance with an <br />act of the Legislature of the State of California <br />entitled, "An act authorizing municipalities to <br />declare noxious or dangerous weeds growing upon <br />the streets or sidewalks or upon private property <br />within municipalities to be a public nuisance, <br />creating a lien upon the property fronting upon <br />such streets or sidewalks, or npon which such <br />nuisence exists for the cost of abating the same, <br />approved May 26, 1915", and amendments thereto." <br /> <br />w~s introduced, read, considered, designated Resolution <br /> <br /> <br />
