Newman - <br /> <br /> Limousine Service <br /> <br />District, the bill for such surveys to be paid 2ointly <br />by the City of Santa Aha and the County of Orange, was <br />read and on motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by <br />Dixon and carried, recommendation was accepted and <br />communication received and filed. <br /> <br />A petition of protest was presented by business men and <br />proper~cy owners on Fourth Street between Bush & Broadwa <br />opposing the granting of on-sale liquor license to <br /> <br />Leon S. Townsend at ll8 E. Fourth St. Santa Aha. <br />Messrs. C.P.Kryhl, Frank F. Evans and Forrest A. Jones, <br />property owners and merchants appeared before the <br />Council substantiating the facts as s~t out in the <br />petition. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Cheney and <br />carried, the City Council expressed itself as being in <br />full accord with the facts as set out in the petition, <br />recognizing that this area should be kept as a retail <br />district. A copy of petition was ordered sent to the <br />Board of Equalization requesting the denial of the <br />application made by Leon S. Haan <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, the application of the Seventh-Day Adventist <br />Church for permission to solicit funds for their regula~ <br />annual appeal for local, world relief and uplift work, <br />in the amount of $1,V50.00, was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Cheney and <br />carried, the request of John Lawrence for permission to <br />conduct a series of six dancing lessons at the De Molay <br />Hall, was granted and Clerk instructed to issue license <br /> <br />Request of Hugh J. Staton for permission to change the <br />ownership of the Broadway Cab Co. from the dual owner- <br />ship of A. Lee Staton and Hugh J. Staton to the single <br />ownership of Hugh J. Starch, was read and on motion of <br />Trustee Cheney, seconded by Deckert and carried, the <br /> <br />change of ownership on the Taxicab Co. was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, the application of Douglas Drobeck and Edwin E. <br />Newman to conduct a limousine service at 81V E. 4th St., <br />was referred to the Taxicab Commission with power to act <br /> <br /> <br />
