Lowry, Coordinator <br /> <br />A communication was read from H.M.Neighbour, City <br />Engineer, recommending that all bids be rejected for the <br />improvement of Fourth Street between Artesia Street on <br />the west and the Southern Pacific Railroad main line <br />and that the work to be done by force account. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and <br />carried, the recommendation of the City Engineer was <br />accepted, all bids for the improvement of Fourth Street <br />were rejected and work authorized to be done by force <br />account under the supervision of the City Engineer and <br />request the State Highway Department to approve the <br />construction of the proposed improvements by force <br />account. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, the Clerk was authorized to return certified <br />checks and bidder's bonds to bidders for the improvement <br />of Fourth Street between Artesia Street on the west <br />and the Southern Pacific Railroad main line. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and <br /> <br />carried, the following Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"Resolution of the City Council of the <br /> City of Santa Ana Approving Memorandum <br /> of Agreement for Expenditure of 1/4 <br /> Cent Gas Tax Allocated for State <br /> Highways" <br /> <br />was introduced, read, considered, designated Resolution <br /> <br />No. 3399 and passed by the following vote: <br /> <br />Ayes, T~ustees <br /> <br />Dale G. Deckert, W. Eugene Dixon, <br />Otto R. Haan, Asa Hoffman <br /> <br />Noes, T~ustees None <br /> <br />Absent,T~ustees W.J. Cheney <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried <br /> <br />the resignation of S. L. Lowry, as Coordinator of <br />Civilian Defense, as of June 30th, 1948, was accepted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and <br />carried, the City Council adjourned. <br /> <br /> <br />
