Bids - Improvement Fourth St. from Artesia to Southern Pacific Tracks In Re Return Checks and Bonds In Re Resol. No. 3399 1/4 Cent Gas Tax State Highways In Re Resignation S.L. Lowry, Coordinator A communication was read from H.M.Neighbour, City Engineer, recommending that all bids be rejected for the improvement of Fourth Street between Artesia Street on the west and the Southern Pacific Railroad main line and that the work to be done by force account. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, the recommendation of the City Engineer was accepted, all bids for the improvement of Fourth Street were rejected and work authorized to be done by force account under the supervision of the City Engineer and request the State Highway Department to approve the construction of the proposed improvements by force account. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Dixon and carried, the Clerk was authorized to return certified checks and bidder's bonds to bidders for the improvement of Fourth Street between Artesia Street on the west and the Southern Pacific Railroad main line. On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and carried, the following Resolution entitled: "Resolution of the City Council of the City of Santa Ana Approving Memorandum of Agreement for Expenditure of 1/4 Cent Gas Tax Allocated for State Highways" was introduced, read, considered, designated Resolution No. 3399 and passed by the following vote: Ayes, T~ustees Dale G. Deckert, W. Eugene Dixon, Otto R. Haan, Asa Hoffman Noes, T~ustees None Absent,T~ustees W.J. Cheney On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried the resignation of S. L. Lowry, as Coordinator of Civilian Defense, as of June 30th, 1948, was accepted. On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Deckert and carried, the City Council adjourned.
