On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, the following applications to hang neon signs were granted: Ivan's Cafe, 602 E. 4th St.; Markham Appliance Co. 121 E. 5th St.,; Home Appliance Co. C.W.Harrison, 502 No. Sycamore St.; Wm. Iverson, 2130 So. Main St.; Newman Bowen Cleaners, ll0 E. 1st St.; Three-O-Two Cafe and Cocktail Lounge, 502 N. Main St.; Orange County Tuberculois Assoc. ll2 W. 5th St.; The Colony, "Cocktail ll6 E. 4th St.; H.T.Noel, 1515 So. Main St.; Electrical Products Corp. 505 No. Main St.; Saving Center, 1201 No. Main St.; Southern Counties Janitor Supply Co. 2050 So. Main St.; Hugh Staten, 217 E. 1st St. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, in the future all applications for the erectiox of electric signs are not to be presented to the Council provided they have the approval of the Electrical Inspector. , On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Cheney and carried, notification of the State Board of Equalizatio: of alcoholic beverage application made by Charles V. Davis, dba Santa Aha Bottling Co. 124 Spurgeon St., and protests of Hockaday & Phillips, Inc., and V.B.Anderson Co. against issuance of beverage license, at this location, were received and filed. On motion of Trustee Deckert, seconded by Haan and carried, application of Ben F. Heflinger to conduct the business of dealing in new cars at ~0~ East 1st St., was held over until Oct. l~th, and Clerk authorized to advertise in accordance with automobile dealer's ordinance. A petition signed by businessmen and representativesof certain organizations requesting an appropriation of $6,000.00, for the employment of a Director and a stenographer to act through the Orange County Veterans Se~vice Office to assist returning servicemen and women was read. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Deckert and carried, the petition was held over until next meeting for further study.
