In Re <br /> <br />Petitions - <br /> <br />Establishing a Recreation <br /> <br />Dept o <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Con~unication relative <br /> <br />status of Eliz.Leland - <br />Juvenile Dept. <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Cormmunication <br /> <br />S.A.Jr. Chamber of Commerce <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Beverage <br /> <br />Applications <br /> <br />In Re <br />Taxicab <br />Applications <br /> <br />James S~well, Judge Kanneth Morrison and other interested <br />persons spoke in favor of petitions and requested the <br />Council to take immediate action. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Haan and <br />carried, City Attorney was instructed to prepare <br />Resolution of Intention to submit to the voters a prop- <br />osition to incur a bonded indebtedness in the sum of <br />Three Hundred Thousand Dollars for the establishment of <br />a Recreation Park, to be presented to the Council at the <br />next meeting. <br /> <br />Petitions were presented by Judge Kenneth Morrison <br />calling for an initiative measure to be submitted <br />directly to the voters establishing a Reereation Depart- <br />ment for the City of Santa Ana under management of a <br />Recreation Commission. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and carried, <br />Clerk was authorized to check the petitions to determine <br />if a su~flcient number of signatures are attached <br />requiring submission to the voters of Santa Ana. <br /> <br />Comunication from Mrs. Kyle A. Lyon, President, The <br />Ebell Society reference Civil Services rules smd <br />regulations pertaining to status of Eliz. Leland in the <br />Juvenile Department, which disqualifies her due to age, <br />was read and on motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by <br />Haan and carried, communication was received and filed. <br /> <br />Communication from Santa Ana Junior Chamber of Commerce <br />requesting an appropriation of $1800.00 from the City <br />Advertising Fund to help sponsor and promote the "Santa <br />Annual Frolic", was read. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and <br />carried, communication was referred to the Budget <br />committee. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and <br />carried, notifications of the State Board of Equalization <br />of alcoholic beverage applications made by George M. <br />Kipp, 109-11 E. 1st St. to be transferred from Vera <br />Vaughn, and Candido S. Perez and Maximino Preciado, 900 <br />E. 4th St. to be transferred from Francisco M. Duron <br />and Robert B.
