In Re Petitions - Establishing a Recreation Dept o In Re Con~unication relative status of Eliz.Leland - Juvenile Dept. In Re Cormmunication S.A.Jr. Chamber of Commerce In Re Beverage Applications In Re Taxicab Applications James S~well, Judge Kanneth Morrison and other interested persons spoke in favor of petitions and requested the Council to take immediate action. On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Haan and carried, City Attorney was instructed to prepare Resolution of Intention to submit to the voters a prop- osition to incur a bonded indebtedness in the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars for the establishment of a Recreation Park, to be presented to the Council at the next meeting. Petitions were presented by Judge Kenneth Morrison calling for an initiative measure to be submitted directly to the voters establishing a Reereation Depart- ment for the City of Santa Ana under management of a Recreation Commission. On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and carried, Clerk was authorized to check the petitions to determine if a su~flcient number of signatures are attached requiring submission to the voters of Santa Ana. Comunication from Mrs. Kyle A. Lyon, President, The Ebell Society reference Civil Services rules smd regulations pertaining to status of Eliz. Leland in the Juvenile Department, which disqualifies her due to age, was read and on motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and carried, communication was received and filed. Communication from Santa Ana Junior Chamber of Commerce requesting an appropriation of $1800.00 from the City Advertising Fund to help sponsor and promote the "Santa Annual Frolic", was read. On motion of Trustee Haan, seconded by Dixon and carried, communication was referred to the Budget committee. On motion of Trustee Dixon, seconded by Haan and carried, notifications of the State Board of Equalization of alcoholic beverage applications made by George M. Kipp, 109-11 E. 1st St. to be transferred from Vera Vaughn, and Candido S. Perez and Maximino Preciado, 900 E. 4th St. to be transferred from Francisco M. Duron and Robert B.
