RE~LUTION NO. 55-90 AUTHORIZING CONDEMNATION OF CERTAIN <br />REAL PROPERTY FOR PUBLIC STREET PURPOSES TO WIDE~ TENTH <br />STREET AT ENGLISH STREET AND DECLARING THE PUBLIC NECESSITY <br />THEREFOR o <br /> <br /> WHEREAS~ Tenth Street as it now exists in the City of Santa An~ just <br />Easterly of English Street, is inadequate in width to acconmmodate the present <br />and future demands of traffic thereon, and because thereof is a present and <br />continuing traffic hazard, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Santa Ana has acquired title to the property be- <br />tween Artesia Street and Townsend Street and there is left between Townsend <br />Street and English Street a length of 228.82 feet in which area Tenth Street <br />is only 25 feet wide; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: That the Council of the City of <br /> <br />Santa ~na does hereby Find and determine that public interests and necessity <br />require that the City do have~ take and acquire in fee simple for the purpose <br />of creating a street thereon the entire parcel of land described as: <br /> <br /> Lying in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State of <br /> California, and commencing at a point on the East line of English <br /> Street 620 feet North of the Northeast corner of Hickey and English <br /> Streets; running thence East parallel with the North line of Hickey <br /> Street, 228.82 feet to a point; thence North parallel with the East <br /> line of English Street, 55.26 feet, more or less, to the North line <br /> of the land conveyed to W. H. Young by deed recorded in book 270, <br /> page 397, of Deeds, records of Orange County, California; thence <br /> West along the North line of the land conveyed by said deed 228.82 <br /> feet to the East line of English Street and thence South along the <br /> East line of English Street 55.26 feet, more or less, to the point <br /> of beginning~ <br /> <br />for the reason that the part taken to be used for said street purposes would <br />leave the remainder thereof in such size, shape end condition as to require <br />said City to pay compensation for the ts.king of such part, which would be equal <br />to the fair and reasonable value of the whole parcel, and said Council hereby <br />finds and declares that the entire parcel is necessary for the public use, benefits, <br />safety, economy and general welfare. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER HESOLVED: That the City Attorney be and he is hereby <br />ordered and directed to bring an action in the name of the City of Santa Aha <br />in the Superior Court of the State of California in and for the County of Orange, <br />for condemnation of said property necessary to be taken as herein ordered and <br /> <br /> <br />
