Train <br /> <br />In Re <br /> <br />Petition <br /> <br />ue~ting stop <br />intersections; crosswalk <br /> <br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of <br />Trustee Chandler, seconded by Reed and carried, one <br />overhead light was ordered installed at the intersect- <br />ion of Eleventh St., and Artesia St., and one-on llth <br />St., approximately 450 feet easterly from Artesia Street <br /> <br />Opinion of City Attorney waa read regarding Sections 19 <br />and 24 of Civil Service Ordinance No. 1056, pertaining <br />to Fire and Police Departments and the meaning of the <br />word "vacancy" as used in such sections. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, secohded,by Reed and <br />carried, it was decided to again initiate step-up pay <br />and backpay, as heretofore existed for firemen. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and <br />carried, step-up pay and backpay was also ordered paid <br />to the Policemen. <br /> <br />The Chief of Police reported there had been no further <br />complaints against Veterinary Hospita$,1911 So. Main <br />St., and on motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandle <br />and carried, petition was received and filed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the committee and on motion of <br /> <br />Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and carried, request <br /> <br />of Tenaro Pellon to conduct a pool hall at lB10 W. 4th <br />St., was granted. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and <br />carried, communication from City Engineer advising that <br />Mr. Wilkins, of the Los Angeles Airways Inc., discussed <br />possibility of obtaining a landing field for Helicopters <br />delivering mail to Santa Aha, was received and filed. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />On recommendation of the appointed committee and on <br />motion of Trustee Cheney seconded by Mandy and carried, <br />the request for a pedestrian crossing at Hobart and <br />Main Streets, <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Reed, seconded by Mandy and carried <br />communication from W.R. Traln was referred to Clerk for <br />reply to advise Mr. Train that traffic signalm are under <br />the control of theState Highway Department and that Polic <br />Department has notified trucking companies relative to <br />spilling of gravel on streets. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and carried <br />petition of property owners and residents in vicinity <br />of Willard Junior High School was received and filed <br />and Clerk to notify Paul M. Reynolds et al that proposed <br /> <br /> <br />
