<br />Copy of communication from Fire Chief addressed to the
<br />Civil Service Board advising of appointment of J.J.
<br />Hansen, as Fire Marshal, effective June 16th, 1947,
<br />probationary period to start as of that date, was read.
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Cheney and
<br />carried, recommendation of Fire Chief was approved and
<br />Fire Marshal's salary to be effective June 16th, 1947.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and
<br />carried, request of Concha Maciel to conduct public
<br />dances at 407 East Central Avenue, on Friday and Sunday
<br />evenings, was referred to Chief of Police and Police
<br />Commissioner for investigation and report back at the
<br />next meeting.

<br />On motion of Trustee Cheney, seconded by Chandler and
<br />carried, notifications of the State Board of Equalizatic
<br />of alcoholic beverage applications made by Maximlno
<br />Preciado dba La Paloma Cafe, 900 E. Ath St., Candido S.
<br />Perez dba Right Roa~ Cafe, 1029 E. 4th St., Raymond W.
<br />Gorman, 325 W. 4th St., Raymond W. Gorman, 1822 So. Main
<br />St., Eugene Kahen, 1232 So. Main St., and Frederick E.
<br />Kahen, dba R.C.Distributing Co. 407 Terminal St., were
<br />received and filed.

<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Reed and
<br />carried, applications of Boyd Ray Capps, Mrs. Helen Shaw
<br />Albert Vernon Bauernschmttt, Herman 0. Boyman, Raymond
<br />A. LeCompte, John H. Hamblet, Earl L. Dobbs, Richard H.
<br />Lingier, William R. Reed, Floyd J. Dickson, Julian
<br />Mayberry, Grover Carl Davidson and Kenneth R. Peters,
<br />to drive taxicabs, were granted and Clerk authorized to
<br />issue licenses.

<br />On motionof Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and
<br />carried, bond No. S3-S-19378, dated May 28th,
<br />of Doyle McMillin, written by the Aetna Casualty and
<br />Surety Company, in the amount of $1,000.00, was approved
<br />
<br />Communication from Secy. Civil Service Board, recommend-
<br />ing that Council authorize continued employment of Doris
<br />Sullivan, official examiner for Civil Service Board, on
<br />a monthly retainer fee basis, was read.
<br />
<br />On motion of Trustee Mandy, seconded by Chandler and
<br />carried, Mrs. Doris Sullivan was employed to compile
<br />the necessary classification system for the various
<br />unclassified departments of the City of Santa Ana on a
<br />monthly retainer fee basis of $400.00 per month for the
<br />
