1'02 <br /> <br />In Re <br />Lay-off <br />Executive <br />Secretary <br /> <br />In'Re <br />Transfer of <br />employment <br /> <br />In Re <br />Petition <br />Sewage problem <br />S.~oDlstrict <br /> <br />Treasurer, effective August 13, <br />Trustee Dahl stated that due to <br />economy the ExeOutive Secretary to the City Council ~should be laid off!i <br />pursuant to Paragraph 1, Section 4 of Rule 11, of the Rules and ii <br />Regulations of the Civil Service Commission. It was moved by Trusteei <br />D~d~l, seconded by McBride and carried, that the Executive Secretary roi <br /> <br />1951. <br /> <br />lack of work and in the interest of ~ <br /> <br />'y, <br /> <br />the City Council be laid off effective August 14, 1951, at 5:00 P.M. al <br />that in lieu of any further notice, an additional two ~Jeeks pay at the <br />current rate shall be paid to Evelyn Brown at the termination date. <br />Ernest Barrett, Attorney, representing Evelyn Brown, Executive Secreta: <br />stated that Mrs. Brown is entitled to the position of Personnel Clerk <br />due to seniority rights and certification to the position. <br /> <br />Evelyn Brown, Executive Secretary stated that she desired to transfer <br />to the position of Personnel Clerk due to seniority rights and cert- <br />ification, and on motion of Trustee Dahl,. seconded by McBride and <br />carried, the matter of transfer to position of Personnel Clerk was <br />referred to the Civil Service Commission for their recommendation. <br /> <br />A petition was read signed by one hundred eleven residents and propert~ <br />owners in t~e 2200 block on South Flower, South Olive, South Lowell, <br />South Towner, South Park and South Rosewood requesting in~nediate actio~ <br /> <br />on the sewage problem in the Southwest District. On motion of Truste <br /> <br />Dahl, seconded by Hunter and carried, the petition was received and <br />filed. On motion of Trustee McBride, seconded by Jerome and carried, <br />the City Engineer w~s directed to write a l'etter to the first person <br /> <br />whose name appears on the petition explaining the situation and <br /> <br />advising that immediate action will be taken to prevent further over- <br /> <br />In Re <br />Communication <br />Co.Health Dept. <br /> <br />In Re <br />Resol. No. 5047 <br />Declaring Emergency <br />Purchase sewer pipe <br /> <br />flow of sewage in the Southwest District. <br />,, <br />Communication was ~ead from the County Health Department reference <br />overflow of sewage in the Southwest District and setting forth methods! <br /> <br />whereby the use of water could be material]~y reduced, and on motion of <br />Tmstee McBride, seconded by Dahl and carried, the communication was <br />received and filed. <br /> <br />On motion of Trustee Hunter, seconded by Dahl and carried, the follow-il <br /> <br />ins Resolution entitled: <br /> <br />"A Resolution declaring an emergency, authorizing the <br />immediate purchase and installation of approximately <br />4500 feet of vitrified clay sewer pipe and the eXPend- <br />iture of one thousand dollars to educate the public <br />on methods of reducing the overloading of the sewerage <br />lines by the conservation of water needlessly deposited <br />therein!' <br /> <br />In Re <br />Bid - cohst. <br />storm ee~er E. of <br />P.E.R.R. R/W & on <br />Hobart from Main to <br />Rousselle <br /> <br />was read, considered, designated Resolution No. 5047 and passed by the <br /> <br />following vote: <br /> <br /> Ayes, Trustees William Jerome, J.L.McBride, Orson H. Hunter, <br /> Milford W. Dahl, Courtney R. Chandler. <br /> Noes, Trustees None <br /> Absent, Trustees None <br /> <br />Ernie Br0nneck, foreman for S. S. Zarubi~a, appeared before the Council <br />and stated that an erron in the sum of $9,000.00 was made in the bid <br /> <br />submitted for the construction of a storm sewer east of the Pacific <br /> <br />Electric Railroad right-of-way and on Hobart from Main to Rousselle <br /> <br /> <br />
