RESOLUTION NO. 623 <br /> <br /> A Resolution of the Board of Trustees of the Oity of Santa Ana, <br />California, amending Specifications No.~5 a~ adopted by Resolution <br />No.555 on the ~th day of October, 1917, Specifications for the <br />Construction of pavement of concrete base and crushed rook and <br />asphaltic oll surfacing in the City of Santa Aha, California, and <br />to be known as Specification No.65-a. <br /> <br /> The Boaxd of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana do resolve and <br />declare as follows:- <br /> <br /> Section 1. Resolved, that a new specification to be numbered <br />g5-a for the construction of pavement with concrete base and <br />crushed rock and asphaltic oil surfacing in the City of ~anta Aha, <br />California, is hereby adopted. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That said specification shall conform to and <br />include all of the specifications and requirements of specification <br />Nc. S5 adopted and approved by the Board of Trustees of the City <br />of Santa Ana, California, and known as Resolution No.SgS, adopted <br />and approved by the Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Aha, <br />California, on the Sth day o£ October,191?, excepting certain pro- <br />visions, changes and alterations to said specification Nc.S5 as <br />follows to-wit:- <br /> <br />Concrete Base. <br /> <br /> (1) The proportions of the concrete base, Portland cement 1 part <br /> sand or stone screenings 2 parts, gravel or broken stone 4 parts. <br /> <br /> Mixing and Placing Concrete. <br /> <br /> Commencing with paragraph 6 at the bottom of page 5 of Specifica- <br /> tion 85 shall read as follows:- <br /> <br /> The mixer shall make at least ten (10) revolutions and in no <br /> case less than (45) forty-five seconds of time, after a batch of <br /> dry ingredients with the water has been completely placed in same <br /> before any concrete is removed. <br /> <br /> Ali concrete shall be used while fresh and before it has <br /> <br /> taken an initial est. Re-tampering with additional water, any <br /> concrete that ham partially hardened shall not be permitted. <br /> <br /> The concrete shall be dUmped direct from the mixer spout on <br /> <br />t~e sub-grade a~d immediately shoveled into place and thoroughly <br />tamped with a template. Five minutes after the tamping process, the <br />concrete must be rolled transversely with a roller 5 feet long, 10" <br />to 12" in diameter, constructed of 1/$" sheet iron. After the rolling <br />process, the concrete shall then be floated by means of a metal float, <br />floating transversely across the pavement. <br /> <br /> The floating to be continued until the concrete'has an even <br />surface, free from all wavy effect. <br /> <br /> Sufficient water shall be added during the process of mixing <br /> <br />to produce a plastic mixture which will flush under tamping, which ~ <br />can be handled without causing a separation of the coarse aggregate <br />from the water, in no case will sloppy concrete be used. <br /> <br /> Should a deficiency of mortar exist, it shall be remedied by <br />varying the proportions of fine and coarse gravel or broken stone., <br />and not by adding a greater portion of sand. <br /> <br /> <br />
