BOOk i6, Page ~69 c: pl-nning <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 59~8 GRANTING VARIANCE ON APPLICATION <br />NO. 1083 OF FAR.%~RS UNDERWRITERS ASSOCIATION, WHERE <br />PLA~NINO C0~ISSION RECOmmENDED DENIAL <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Variance Application No. 1083 was considered before <br />the ?lanning Commission on ~arch 23rd, 1959, ~nd said hearing was <br />continued for a Further hearing held thereon on Ap~l 13, 1959, and <br />after said hearings the Planning Comnis~ on voted 4 to 3 to recormuend <br />to the City Council th~ s~id variance be denied; and <br /> <br /> ~tEREAS, s~ d report came before the City Council on the 20th <br />day of ~pril, 19~, a t which time there were protests against the <br />granting of said variance, mud arguments t~esented by spokesmen repre- <br />senting Nr. ~d ~rs. Lacy and ~r. and ~rs.Salveson, owners of the <br />real property involved, and Farmers Underwriters Association, a cor- <br />poration, that had entered into ~ escrow to purchase said property; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, after study, consideration and hearing, it aDpears to <br />the City Council th~ s~ d variance should be granted; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Aha finds that the variance as applied for should be <br />granted to permit the construction of a regional, operational and <br />administrative office building for the Farmers Insursnce Group upon <br />that portion of said property lying ~ong the Southern Pacific ~ail- <br />road right of way and protected from the street by single family <br />residences built along the westerly side of said triangle facing <br />Flowe~ Street, and along the southerly side of said triangle facing <br />a street which would be the extension of Nemory Lone, extended <br />easterly from Flower Street. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said City Council finds that <br />speci~ circumstances attach to said property which do not generally <br />apply to other property in the vicinity by reason of the fact that <br />the Southern Pacific Railroad right of way runs ~ ong the northeast- <br />erly boundary of said propert~ and immediately beyond the Railroad <br />right of way is located the Santa AnaFreeway, resulting in continu- <br />ous heavy traffic, noise ~d vibration, and that all of the property <br /> <br /> <br />
