RESOLUTION NO. 1898 <br /> <br />A RESOLLPI'ION ADOPTING PLANS AND AWARDING <br />CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF CONCRETE <br />PIERS FOR A WATER TANK FOR THE CITY OF <br />SANTA ANA. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS; it appearing to the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana that a~dtsaster has occurred in the reserve <br />water supply of the City of Santa Aha, due to a recent wind <br />storm which tore off the covering of the water reservoir on <br />Flower Street and that the water in said reservoir is unfit <br />for drinking purposes and that by virtue thereof a case of <br />great public calamity exists, and that public interest and <br />necessity demands the immediate expenditure of public money <br />to safeguard life, health and property in the City of Santa <br />Aha; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it satisfactorily appearing to said City <br />Council that the necessity for the imediate expenditure of <br />such public money is in the erection and constx~ction of a <br />steel elevated tank of the capacity of one million gallons <br />of water to be constructed upon property of the City of Santa <br />Aha, located adjoining the Southern Pacific Railroad right-of. <br />on the West, between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Streets in <br />said City, which it is necessary to have constructed before <br />the stumner of 1928, in order that there may not be a shortage <br />of water for domestic purposes, or in case of fire or other <br />emergency that might cause a large consumption of water from <br />the reserve water supply, and thereby endanger the life, <br />health or property of the inhabitants of the City of Santa An~ <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the public <br />interest and necessity demands the imEediate expenditure of <br />public meney to safeguard the life, health and property of <br />the inhabitants of the City of Santa Ana, and that an <br />emergency exists in the water supply of the City of Santa Ana <br />as hereinbefore stated, and that the City Engineer has sub- <br />mitted plans and specifications for the erection and construc~ <br />ion of concrete piers for the steel water tank as hereinbefor, <br />mentioned, (a contract for which has been awarded to Llewellyl <br />Iron Works). That Geo. R. Wells and C. E. Bressler, co- <br />partners, doing business under the firm name of Wells and <br />Bressler, have submitted a bid in writing to complete the <br />same, including the furnishing of all materials, labor and <br />equipment, according to said plans and specifications for the <br />sum of Eight Dollars ($8.00) per cubic yard for concrete in <br />place, mixed in a ratio of I - 3 - 6, and Nine Dollars ($9.0( <br />per cubic yard for concrete in place mixed in a ratio of <br />I - 2-1/2 §, and have agreed to complete the same on or <br />before March 17, 1928, which said City Council determines is <br /> <br />~ay <br /> <br /> <br />
