RESOLUTION NO. 2290 <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0F <br /> SANTA ANA, REQUESTING OF THE SECrETARY Or THE <br /> INTERIOR AN EXTENSION 0P TIME TO CONTRACT WITH <br /> THE UNITED STATES FOR HOOVER DAM ELEOT~ICAL ENERGY <br /> TO 0CTOBER 15, 1931. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the time for entering into a contract by the City of Santa Aha with <br />the Secretary of the Interior for the Onited States for electrical energy from the Hoow <br />D~m allocated to the City of Santa Ana is extremely limited; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said contract must be entered into on or before April 15, 1931; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary that the City of Santa Ana contract with the City of <br />L~s Angeles and its Department of Water and Power for transmitting said electrical <br />energy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said City of Los Angeles and its Department of Water and Power <br />on the 24th day.of Januar~y, 1931, for the first time made a requirement that the <br />municipalities, including the City of Santa Aha, pay to the said City of Los Angeles <br />its Department of Water and Power, their proportionate shares of the initial investment <br />and construction cost of the transmission line to be constr~cted by the City of Los <br />Angeles and its maid Department, upon the execution of the contract for transmission of <br />said electrical energy with the said City of Los Angeles and its said Department; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is not within the contemplation of Article 20 of the proposed <br />contract between the United States and the City, or the provisions of Article 25 of <br />the contract between the United States and the City, or within the previous understand- <br />ing of any of the said municipalities in their conversations with the Secretary of the <br />Interior, or the City of Los Angeles, that the municipalities, including the City of <br />Santa Aha, shall pay their proportionate shares of the initial investment in the trans- <br />mission line constructed at the execution of the contract between any such municipality <br />and the City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is impossible to prepare and execute a contract between the City <br />Los Angeles and the City of Santa Aha with respect to the transmis~on of said electrics <br />energy in sufficient time to enable the City of Santa Aha to submit the proposed contra¢ <br />between the United States and the City of Santa Aha for the purchase of such electrical <br />energy to the vote of the people by April 15, 1931; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Pasadena did on the 27th day of January, 1931, adopt a <br />resolution requesting an extension of the time within which to execute a contract with <br />the United States for an additional period of six months, to-wit: October 15, 1931; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORH, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA: <br />That it consents to said request of the City of Pasadena for said extension. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Secretary of the Interior of the United <br />States be, and the s~me is hereby respectfully requested on behalf of the City of Santa <br />Aha to extend the time within which the City of Santa Ana, and the other municipalities <br />to whom Hoover Dam Energy has been allocated, may enter into said contracts for an <br />additional period of six months, to-wit: October 15, 1931, and that in the meantime the <br />Secretary of the Interior be requested to a~bi~a~$ with the City of Los Angeles and <br />its Department of Water and Power reEarding the matter of the payment of the proportiona <br />shares of the cost of said transmission line to be paid by the City of Santa Ana, and <br />the other~Gnicipalities, to the end that the City of Santa Aha, and the mmaller <br />municipalities, may be permitted to contract with said City of Los Angeles, and its <br /> <br /> <br />
