2 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2846 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is evident that municipalities within the State of California have <br />not received a fair proportion of the motor tax funds with which to constr~ct and <br />maintaim streets and highways required by increasing automobile traffic, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a more equitable distribution of said funds is necessary and <br /> <br />desirable, <br /> <br /> BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the City of Santa Ana go on record aa favoring <br />the following: <br /> <br /> 1. The apportionment to each county as heretofore of one-third of the total <br />proceeds of the existing three cent motor fuel tax; however, the amount acc~aing directl <br />from the tax on the sale of gasoline shall be apportioned amongst the cities of said <br />county and the unincorporated areas of said county on the basis of registration of motor <br />vehicles. Of said apportionment, three-fourths of the amount resulting from city <br />registration shall be paid to the cities; the remaining one-fourth resulting from city <br />registration, together with all revenue r~sulting from rural registration and all receipt <br />for license plates, etc., shall be paid into the county treasury. The same restrictiom <br />on expenditures shall be made for the cities as now exists for the counties, with the <br />further provision that all such funds shall be expended only according to a financial <br />plan in each case which shall be bamed upon a competent physical plan, including a <br />classification of existing traffic routes and proposed alterations therein and <br />extensions thereto. <br /> <br /> 2. Nothing in the resolution shall be construed to limit the existing authorit <br />of counties to meot needs within incorporated cities. <br /> <br /> I hereby certify the foregoing Resolution was regularly introduced, passed and <br />adopted by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana at an adjourned regular meeting <br />thereof held on the 12th day of December, 1932, by the following stated vote, to-wit: <br /> <br />AYES, TRUSTEES: <br />NOES, TRUSTEES: <br />ABSENT, TRUSTEES: <br /> <br />E.O.Warner, W.H.Penn, A.C.HasenJaeger, Paul B.
