RESOLUTIOE ~p. E550 <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, steps are being taken to organize the Orange County Water District, <br />which would include the City of Santa Aha; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the ostensible purpose of said district is mainly to supplement the <br />water supply available for the district ar~a; an6 <br /> <br /> ~Et!EAS, in 1928, the City of S~uta Aha, foresc:eing a future water shortage, <br />allied itself with the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and thereby <br />provided a smpp$em~ntal water supply from the Colorado River sufficient for its future <br />needs, and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, by that action this CSty has incurred a very large obligation, which <br />we believe will provide us with needed water at a cost must less than any other possible <br />plan; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, the tax-payers of this City cannot afford to assume further obligatio~ <br />as proposed by said Water Bill, which creates another tax-levying agency; and <br /> <br /> ~E~EAS, the City of Santa Aha is interested in pledging itself to aid in <br />protecting the water rights of this City and other communities in Orange County from <br />enc~oachmeuts in the Upper Santa Aha Basin: <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Ana go on record as being opposed to the Orange County ~¥ater Bill as now proposed, and <br />urges the representatives from Orange County to exclude the City of Santa Ana from the <br />said Orange County Water District. <br /> <br /> BE .IT F~THER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be forw~rded to <br />Senator N. T. Edwards and A~semblymen Ted Craig and James B. Utt, in Sacramento, <br />California. <br /> <br /> I H~REBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly <br />introduced, passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana, at a regula~ <br />meeting thereof, held on the 7th day of March, 1933, by the following vote, to-wit: <br /> <br /> AYES, TRUSTEES: A.F.LeGaye, E.Gj.
