446 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 2475. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING EXTRAORDINARY DISASTER AND <br />D.&NGER OF EPID~.IIC REQUIRING I~,~iEDIATE ACTION <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> T~T, VfHE~EAS, due to unusual and extraordinary action of the Pacific <br />Ocean, the outfall sewer maintained and operated by the City of Santa Ama on <br />behalf of the joint cities of Santa Ana, Anaheim, Fullerton and other municipaliti <br />in the County of Orange, has been injured and destroyed to such an extent that <br />the same is no longer serviceable, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the State Board of Health has-ordered said sewer to be <br />immediately repaired to prevent the possibility of an epidemic resulting from the <br />discharge of said sanitary sewer into the Pacific Ocean at a point hear the coast <br />line of said Pacific Ocean, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is necessary to repair said sewer to cause the same to <br />discharge at the outward end of said sewer at a distance sufficiently far from <br />the shore or beach to prevent contamination thereof, and <br /> <br /> WI~S, the firm of Merritt-Chapman & Scott Corp. has offered to <br />repair said outfall sewer upon certain basic figures as to cost on a time and <br />material basis plus a percentage to said firm, <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, this City Council does hereby declare and determine <br />that the public interest and necessity demands the immediate expenditure of <br />public money to safeguard life, health and property, and does hereby authorize <br />the Mayor and the City Clerk to accept the offer submitted by said firm, and <br />does hereby authorize said firm to immediately commence the work of repairing <br />said outfall sewer. <br /> <br />PASSED AND ADOPTED by the unanimous vote of this City Council at a <br />special meeting held at the hour of 9 o'clock A.M. on the 25rd day of May, 1936. <br /> <br />ATTEST: E.L.
