RESOLUTION NO. 2534 RESOLUTION OF TKE CITY COUNCIL OF TttE CITY OF SANTA A~A CALLING A SPECIAL ELECTION TO SUBMIT TO A VOTE OF THE ELECTORS OF SAID CITY AN ORDI~ANCE PLACING THE ME~,~ERS OF THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPART- ~d~NTS UNDER CIVIL SERVICE RULES A~D REGNLATIONSo THE CO~;CIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA A~A DO RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION I: That a special election shall be held in the City of Santa Ama on the 16th day of November, 193V, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of said City of Santa Ana the proposition of the adoption of an ordinance providing that the members of the Police and Fire Departments of the City of Santa Ana shall be placed under Civil Services rules and regulations, which ordinance is hereunto annexed and marked Exhibit "A", and made a part hereof to the same effect as thoug~ herein set forth in full, and which ordinance is entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAi/TA ANA, CREATING A CIVIL SERVICE BOARD, PROVIDING FOR THE ~ANNER AND }.~ET~"OD OF APPOINT}~NT: PROVIDING FOR ~IE PLACING OF L~EMBERS OF THE POLICE DEPART~IENT, AND THE FIRE DEPART~,~NT, UNDER CIVIL SERVICE". SECTION 2: That said special election is called by the City Council of the City of Sa~a Ana pursuant to the provisions of an act of the Legislature entitled: "AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR DIRECT LEGISLATION BY CITIES AND TO?~S, INCLUDING INITIATIVE AND REFERENDUM." (Statutes Ex. Seas. 1911, p. 131), and pursuant to petition therefor, signed by more than fifteen percent of the qualified electors of the City of Santa Ana, containing a request that such ordinance be forth- with submitted to a vote of the people at a specis_l election, and which said petition has been duly and regularly filed with the City Clerk and Clerk of the Legislative body of the said City of Santa Ana, who has attached his certificate thereto, showing that said petition has been signed by not less than fifteen percent of the qualified electors of said City of Santa Ana. SECTION 3: That at said special election there shall be twenty-three consolidated voting precincts, each consisting of a consolidation of two or more of the regular election precincts last established for State and County election purposes, as herein set forth, and the election boards for each such consolidated voting precinct, respectively, and the polling place thereof, shall be as follows: SPECIAL ELECTION CONSOLIDATED PRECINCT "A", comprised of State and County Precincts Nos. l, 63 and 64; and the polling place thereof shall be at the Fire Hall, 1322 North Sycamore Street.
