RESOLUTION NO. ~88~ RESOLUTION REQUESTING STA?E OF CALIFORNIA TO REPLACE SANTA, ANA RIVER BRIDGE BE IT RESOL~JED BY. TIIE COUNCIL OF THE CITY 0F SANTA ANA, AS FOELOWS: WIiEREAS, on the 3rd day of March, 193S, flood waters of the Santa Aha River d~uollshed and destroyed the bridge across said river carrying State Highway, No. 174, (U.S. Highway 101), which is a major artery for traffic in the State of California, and which bridge is located within the City of Santa Aha, and WItEREAS, the City of Santa Aha, a municipal corporation of the Fifth Class, has been financially unable to construct a bridge which will be suitable and adequate to care for flood waters of said Santa Ana River, and WHEREAS, the maintenance of said State Highway is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works of the State of Ca~fornia, and WHEREAS, said bridge is necessary for the carrying of automobile traffic up and down the State of California; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Santa Aha does hereby give its consent to, and requests that the State of California or the Department of Public Works thereof, be and they are hereby requested to proceed with the construction of a new bridge of adequate design to care for flood waters of Santa Aha River and if necessary or appropriate, to make application to the Public Works Administration for a grant or loan of sufficient moneys to finance the said con- structien, all as may be determined to be pro~r by the said State of Callfot~ia, or Department of Public Works; And the City of Santa Ana does hereby request and authorize the from the construction account transference and re-allocation of the following sums in the following Projects to-wit: Santa Ana River Bridge Grmnd Avenue & McClay St. West First Street Project 10 Project ll Project 13 Unbudgeted balance w 5,~50.00 ?,850.00 37,432.00 4~218.00 Total ~54,750.00 all as set forth and defined in the memorandum of agreement for expenditure of one-quarter (1/4) cent fund on State Highways, ~etwe~n the City of Santa Ana, and the Department of Public Works of the State of California, for 193V-!939, dated the 21st. day of June, 1937, from said Projects ment of the construction of said bridge; And the City of Santa Aha does hereby further request that the Departmem of Public Works of the State of California, fumish such additional funds as may be necessary to accomplish the same f~m such sources as may be available.
