.< <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 59-284 FAVORING THE LOCATION OF A BRANCH <br />OF THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA IN ORANGE COUNTY <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the population of Southern California is increasing <br />at an unprecedented rate, and the population center of the Los <br />Angeles metropolitan complex is rapidly shifting to the south of <br />the City of Los Angeles so that the center of this population com- <br />plex will be located in the southeast part of Santa Aha, California <br />before the year 2000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County presently affords areas ideally suited <br />to the location of a University Branch, properly planned for the <br />future rather than a temporary, short-term, stop-gap facility, be- <br />cause of the availability of large acreage and adequate area for <br />future expansion and continued operation; <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Ana hereby respectfully urges the Regents of the <br />University of California to select a site for a Branch University <br />in the County of Orange, and confidently declares that this County <br />offers advantages as a site location which cannot elsewhere be <br />equaled. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa Ana <br /> <br />at its regular meeting held on the <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> -CL~RK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br />2nd day of November, 1959. <br /> <br />MARION SUTTNER~ do hereby certify that I am the <br /> <br />Clerk of the <br /> <br />Council of the City of Santa Ana; that the foregoing Resolution was <br />regularly introduced to said Council at its regular meeting held on <br /> <br />the 2nd day of November ~ 1959, and was at said meeting regularly <br /> <br />passed and adopted by the following vote~ to-wit; <br /> <br /> AYES~ COUNCILMEN: RoyalE.
