RESOLUTION 64-118 ORDERING AND CALLING A <br />SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON <br />NOV~4BER 3RD, 1964, TO SUBMIT TO THE <br />ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA THE <br />QUESTION RAISED BY REFERENDUM PETITION <br />AS TO WHETHER OR NOT ORDINANCE NS-729 <br />SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Santa Ana City Council adopted Ordinance NS-729 <br />on June 15th, 1964, and on July 14, 1964, a Referendum Petition <br />signed by more than 1~ of the registered electors of the City was <br />filed with the Clerk of the Council requiring said City Council to <br />entirely repeal said Ordinance or submit the same to the voters at <br />a regular or special election; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said Ordinance may not become effective until a <br />majority of the voters voting on the Ordinance vote in favor of it. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council hereby <br />calls a special election to be held on November 3rd, 1964, for the <br />purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Santa Ana, <br />California, a proposition to determine whether or not said voters <br />desire Ordinance NS-729, against which a proper referendum petition <br />has been filed, to become effective. If a majority of the voters <br />voting on said Ordinance vote in favor of it, that is, stamp an X <br />in the box next to the word "Yes" on said proposition, then said <br />Ordinance shall go into effect, and unless a majority of such voters <br />so vote said Ordinance shall not become effective. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the proposition to be <br />upon the ballot for presentation to said electors shall be <br />and figures as follows: <br /> <br />placed <br />in words <br /> <br />Shall Ordinance NS-729 changing territory : : <br />therein described from the R-1 (Single : YES : <br />Family Residence District) to the R-4 : : <br />(Suburban Apartment District) be adopted : : <br />to become effective in the City of : NO : <br />Santa Aha? : : <br /> <br /> The Clerk of the Council is directed to cause copies of said <br />Ordinance to be printed and mailed with the sample ballots to the <br />voters of the City; to publish notice inviting arguments against <br />said proposition; to publish a notice of "Measures to be Voted On"; <br />and to do all things regarding said election in accordance with the <br />provisions of the Elections Code of the State of California and the <br />Charter of the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Supervisors of the <br />County of Orange be and it is hereby requested to grant permission <br />for, and to order, consolidation of the Special Election to be called <br />and held in the City of Santa Aha on November 3, 1964, with the <br />State-wide General Election to be held on said date. Said Board of <br />Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass the returns of said <br />Special Election which it is hereby requested to consolidate with said <br />State-wide General Election and said elections shall be held in all <br />respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of <br />ballot shall be used. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: That said Board of Supervisors is <br />authorized to form the precincts within the City of Santa Ana, to <br />fix the polling places, appoint the precinct boards and provide for <br />the expenses of said election; that the election officers serving at <br /> <br /> <br />
