RESOLUTION NO~ 3911 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF SANTA ANA <br />REQUESTING THE CIVIL AERONAUTICS BOARD TO CON- <br />SIDER THE APPLICATION OF SOUTHWEST AIRWAYS COM- <br />PANY FOR LOCAL SERVICE. <br /> <br /> ~HER~S, Orange County does not now have any air passenger, <br />express, or ~retght service whatsoever, and tha~ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Orange County lies adjacent to Los Angeles~County, <br />one of the largest business c~nters in the United States, and that <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Southwest Airways Company did, in the year 1942 under <br />case entitled "West Coast Case Docket No. 722" and again in the <br />case entitled "Additional California-Nevada Service Case Docket <br />NO. 2019", file with the Civil Aeronautics Board its application <br />for a certificate of public convenience and necessity, and that <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, no other airline company has applied for a certificate <br />of public ~onvenience and necessity to serve Orange County con- <br />necting Los Angeles, Oceanside, San Diego, E1 Centro, Yuma and <br />Phoenix with any airline travel of local convenience and necessity <br />to Orange County, and that <br /> <br /> WH~J~EAS, under date of December 19, 1949 the Civil Aeronautics <br />Board amended the certificate of South~est Airways Company of <br />public convenience ~nd necessity for airmail romte Ne. 76 "Medford, <br />Oregon to Los Angeles, California, extending ~he route from Los <br />Angeles to Phoenix, Arizona~ connecting Long Beach, Santa Ana, <br />Orange County, L~gun~ Beach, Orange County, Oceanside, San Diego, <br />E1 Centro, Yuma and AJe". The type of traffic authorized to be <br />carried under said certificate of convenience and necessity ex- <br />tending said route to Southwest Airways Company included passenger, <br />airmail, air parcel post, air exPress and air freight, and that <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Southern California, including Orange County, is <br />growing at such a rapid rate and air tr~vel is being utilized to <br />a grea~er extent day by day th~ the poin$ has arrived long past <br />where the need for such air service is apparent and obvious, and <br /> <br />that <br /> <br /> <br />
