<br /> An Ordinance to Provide Purther Licensing for
<br />purpose of Revenue and Regulation of Pursuits, Tradec,
<br />Occupations, Avocations, ~mplo~ents, 0alling and Busi-
<br />ness carried on in the City of Santa Aha, fixing the rate
<br />therefor, providinS for the collection thereof, and pro-
<br />viding penalties for the violation thereof, and repealing
<br />Ordinance No. Z55 and all Ordinances in conflict therewith.

<br /> The Board of Tructees of tho City of Santa Aha, do
<br />
<br /> ordain as follows:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, per-
<br />
<br />cons, firm, co-partnership or corporation or for any person
<br />as agent, clerk or employee, either for himself or for any
<br />other person, firm, co-partnership or corporation within th~
<br />corporate limi~c of the City of Santa Aha, to transact, engage
<br />in, or calTy on any pursuit, trade, occupation, avocation,
<br />employment, business or calling, hereinafter specifisd until
<br />he, she, they or it shall first obtain a license therefor ac
<br />in this Ordinance rs.Auired. Each and every day or fractional
<br />part of a day that said pursuit, trade, occupation, avocation,
<br />employment, business or calling in this Ordinance specified is
<br />conducted or carried on without such license, shall constitute
<br />a violation of this Ordinance and any person, who, for himself
<br />or for any other person, shall violate any of the provisions of
<br />this Ordinance, shall for eadh violation thereof be deemed guilty
<br />of a misdemeanor and upon conviction by any Court having jurisdic-
<br />tion thereof, shall be fined therefor in a sum of not more than
<br />SZ00.0C or by ~prisonment in the City Jail not exceeding twenty-
<br />five days or both such fine and imprisonment; provided however
<br />that if any person shall furnish such evidence as shall satisfy
<br />the President of the Board of Trustees and the Oity Marshal that
<br />he or she, by reason of misfortune or physical infirmity, merits
<br />exemption from any section or clause of this Ordinance or that
<br />he was formerly a soldier in the United States Army or a sailor
<br />in the United States Navy, from either of which he was honorably
<br />discharged, a free license may be issued to such party for a
<br />limited period to be specified in such license.

<br /> All licenses provided for in this Ordinance shall be
<br />paid for in advance in lawful money of the United States and such
<br />licenses shall be taken out anually, semi-annually, Quarterly,
<br />weekly, or by the day as hsreinafter provided, co~m~encing January
<br />let and if for a part of a quarter when taken out, there shall be
<br />paid the balance of said Quarter, except where a different ter~
<br />ic provided for by this Ordinance.
