<br />~RDINANCE NO. 618.
<br />
<br /> An Ordinance of the City of Santa Ana, California,
<br />Prohibiting the making of any untrue statement in relation to
<br />~erchandise offered for sale, or services offered by means of
<br />advertising o~ proclamation, w~ich statement or statements is
<br />intended to commend such merchandise or service to the public,
<br />and fixing m penalty therefor.
<br />
<br />The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana,
<br />
<br />dO ordain as follows:-
<br />Section 1. Any person, firm or corporation,
<br />employee thereof, who shall in any newspaper, magazine,
<br />
<br />or any
<br />circular,
<br />
<br />form letter, or any open publication, published, distributed,
<br />or circulated in the City of Santa Ana, County of Orange, State
<br />of California, or on any bill board, sign, caxd,
<br />advertising medium, or by means of any electric
<br />show case display or bM. any advertising device, or by public outcry
<br />or proclamation,to or with a considerable number of persons,
<br />make or disseminate or cause to be made or disseminated any state-
<br />ment or assertion of fact, in relation to modifying, explaining or
<br />in any manner concerning any goods, wares or merchandise, offered
<br />for sale, barter or trade, or any services or offer of employment,
<br />professional or otherwise, offered to be furnished, which statement
<br />or assertion of fact takes the form of or has the appearance cf
<br />or which is intended to commend such goods; wares or merchandise,
<br />or services 'or employment to the public or to a considerable number
<br />of persons, and which statement or. assertion is untrue in any
<br />respect, or calculated to mislead or misinform, shall b~ deemed
<br />guilty cf a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be
<br />punishable by ~ fine cf not less than $25.00, nor more th~_u $200.00,
<br />or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding 60 days or by both such
<br />fine and imprisonment.
<br />
<br />Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in
<br />force 30 days after its passage ard publication a~ provided by law.
<br />
<br /> Section 3. The City Clerk shall cause this Ordinance
<br />to be published once in the "Santa Ana Daily Regicter' a newspaper
<br />published and generally circulated in the City of Santa Ans.
<br />
<br /> The above Ordinance passed and adopted this 13th day of
<br />November, l~16, by the following vote to-wit:-
