:174 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO. 623. <br /> <br /> An Ordinance amending Ordinance No.426 of the City <br />of Santa Ana, Oalifornia, pertaining to the regulation of plumbing <br />and adding a new section thereto to be known as Section 14~ and <br />pertaining to the ventilation of Gas water heaters. <br /> <br /> The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana, <br />does ordain as follows:- <br /> <br /> Section 1. That a new Section be added to Ordinance <br />No.426 of the City of Santa Ana, entitled: "An Ordinance providing <br /> <br />for the appointment of Plumbing Inspector and the construction of <br /> <br />plumbing work in the City of Santa Ana, California, "said section <br />to be known as 14~ and to read as follows to-wit:- <br /> "Section 14~. Gas Water Heatsrs. Every gas water <br /> <br />heater now in use or hereinafter installed for use for the purpose <br />of heating water in any enclosed building in the City of Santa Ana, <br />California, shall be provided with a vent pipe not less than 3 <br />inches in diameter and not less than the smoke or fume outlet from <br />said heater and extending through and undiminishing in size and at <br />least 12 inches above the roof of the building where the same is <br /> <br />or shall have been installed and shall have a T connection on the <br /> <br />top of said pipe; around every such vent at all unexposed places <br /> <br />to the outside view when the e a me shall pass from the room in which <br /> <br />the aforesaid water heater shall have been installed, there shall <br /> <br />be a galvanized iron sleeve extending the full length of the con- <br />cealed portion of said pipe with a clear air space around said vent <br />of not less than 1 inch, provided however, that any gas water heater <br />fixture may be vented into any brick, stonedchimney or 'flue ~ <br />1~, which shall have a capacity of an outlet in excess of <br />the outlet provided for on the gas water heater. <br /> <br /> Ail gas water heaters installed in a closed bath room, <br />or other room which has n~ other outlet than a door or entrance to <br /> <br />said bath room shall have a fresh air intake under the furnace e~ual <br /> <br />in size to the vent of said heater. <br /> <br />Section 2. The City Clerk shall cause this Ordinance <br /> <br />to be published once in the "Santa Aha Daily Register" a newspaper <br /> <br />published and generally circulated in the City of Santa Ana, and <br />thereupon and thereafter it shall take effect and be in force. <br /> <br /> The above Ordinance was passed, adopted and approved <br /> <br />this 7th day of May, 1917, by the following vote to-wit: <br /> <br />Ayes, Trustees Tubbs, McPhee, Greenleaf, MarMatt and Visel. <br /> <br />Noes, Trustees None. ~--~ <br /> A.J.
