ORDINANCE NO. 685. AN OrdINANCE RELATING TO ~E APPOINTING AND QUALIFICATION OF A POUND-KEEPER PRESCRIBING ~IS POWERS, DUTIES AND COMPENSATION AND THE ACCOUNTING OF FFES COLLECTED BY HIM AND ~E DISPOSITION OF SANE. The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana do ordain as follows: Section 1. A City Pound-keeper shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees and he shall take and have charge of the City Pound, and shall furnish metal tags for dogs registered to the person owning or controlling the same upon paying the fees therefor; he shall take and impound all animals found at large upon any street, sidewalk, lane, alley or other public or uninclosed place, within the City of Santa Aha. Section 2. The City Pound-keeper shall execute a bond to the City of Santa Aha, in the penal sum of one thousand (~1,000.00) with such security or securities as shall be aperoved by the Board of Trustees for t~e faithful perfo~uance of his duties and shall hold his office and receive the compen- sation for such time and in s~ch amount and shall discharge such duties as in this or other Ordinances from time to ti'.e provided. Section 3. Ail persons owning, or having charge of or harboring any dog shall be subject to the provisions of this Ordinance in respect to dogs and it shall be the duty of the pound-keeper to register'once, every 1~ months, in a book kept for that purpose all dogs, in the city of Santa Aha, charging and collecting therefor the s~ of ~8.e0 for males and ~3.00 for femal§s: such owners or eersons harboring or ~aving charge thereof upon the eayment of such fees' the pound master shall enter in such dog re~tster book a descrfntion sufficient to identify such dog with name of owner and number and date of registration and he shall then deliver to the person making such payTnent a metal tag with the number and date thereof stamped or cut thereon and the word "Dog Tag" stamped thereon and such tag while attached to the collar upon the neck of such dog and in charge of its owner, or bis employee shall exempt said dog from impounding for 12 months from such date, except as provided herein for vicious or dangerous dogs, unmuzzled. Section 4. Any aminal found trespassing upon any pri- vate enclosure in said corporate limits may be taken up by the party owning such enclosure or by his agents and committed t~ the pound-keeper who shall hold the same subject to a reason- damages in addition to~e fee prescribed by able demand for this Ordinance. Section 5. The Pound-keeper shall keep., true and faithful record of the m~ber and the description of all animals taken into his custody with the date of their impounding and the date and manner of their disposal, and shall keep eonspi-
