96I <br /> <br />except small sand traps used in connection with sods foun- <br />tains. <br /> <br /> The Sand Trap shall be connected to the sewer <br />through s A" cast iron soil pipe drain, and said Trap (draw- <br />ings of which can be obtained at the Plumbing Inspector's of- <br />lice) shall be made according to these specifications. The <br />walls and bottom shall be at least Z" in thickness, and built <br />of Concrete; the size of the trap shall be not less than 48" <br />by l~", and not leas than 24" in depth, inside measurements. <br />The trap shall be divided by s 3" partition wall into two <br />chambers, the size of the discharge chamber shall be 24" in <br />length, and of the receiving chamber 18" iu length. The out- <br />let shall be constructed with a 4" combination Y and eight <br />bend or sanitary Tee with s brass bodied clean out lu the end <br />thereof, and shall be inverted so as to form a trap seal of <br />not less than 8". A 4" quarter bend shall be installed in <br />the partition wall between the two cham~ers with the end in- <br />verted into the receiving chamber. The flow line of this <br />fitting shall be on the same line ss the flow line of the dis~ <br />charge. A cast iron cover shsll be provided for the dischar~ <br />chamber, and a grating for'the receiving chamber. These cov- <br />ers shall rest on a csst iron angle frame of sufficient size <br />as to hsvea one inch bearing on the concrete ws]ls cf the <br /> <br />trap. <br /> <br /> All sand traps in use <br />the date of the passage of this <br /> <br />in said City of Santa Aha at <br />ordinance amending Or~ ~ance <br /> <br />NO. <br /> <br />herein set <br />hereof. <br /> <br />forth, on or before ninety (90) days <br /> <br />V31 must be made to comply with the terms and conditions <br /> from date <br /> <br />&ection (a) Care of Sand Traps. <br /> <br />All sand traps in garages, wash racks, hotels, <br /> <br />boarding houses, factories, laundries, butcher shops, soda <br />fountains, or wherever installe~, shall be skimmed of all oi~ <br />grease and scum at least every two weeks, and oftener if msd~ <br />necessary by excess accumulation, and in case of wash racks, <br />where steam cleaning of cars is practised, a stream of cold <br />water of sufficient quantity to cool tDe oils and greases, <br />shall be allowed to run into the San~ Trap during the entire <br />operation of steam cleaning. <br /> <br /> A copy of the section pertaining to the care of <br />Ssn~ Traps shall be posted in e~ery building in which there is <br />a San~ Trap installed, ~is notice shall also contain a copy <br />of Section 9~ of the Plumbing Ordinsnce, giving penalties for <br />violation thereof. <br /> <br /> Section (b) Soda Fountain Wastes <br /> <br /> Ail waste lines from Soda Fountains and ice boxes <br />shall discharge into a hopper or sink properly installed, <br /> <br /> <br />
