ORDINANCE NO. 889 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA AMENDING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 828 ESTABLISIIING A "PAY-ROLL ACCO~IT", <br />PRESCRIBING THE oOURCE FROM WHICH SAID "PAY-ROLL <br />ACCOUNT" ~HALL BE TRANSFERRED AND DESIGNATING THE <br />METHOD OF PAYMENT OF DEMANDS THEREFROM. <br /> <br /> The City Council of the City of Santa Ana do ordain as follows: <br /> Section 1. That ~ection 2 of Ordinance No. 828 is hereby amended to r~ad as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 2. That all demands or warrants for salaries heretofore fixed by the <br /> <br />City Council, or which may hereafter be provided for by the legislative body of said <br />City, together with-all wages for employees performing work or labor for said City, <br />and whose demands have been approved by the City Auditor of said City, shall be paid <br />out of the Pay-Roll Account by warrants signed by the City Clerk or the Chief Deputy <br />Clerk, and countersigned by the City Auditor, or Secretary to the City Auditor, <br />provided however, that no check upon said Pay-Roll account shall be valid unless either <br />the City Clerk or the City Auditor shall sign,the same. That said checks may be drawn <br />upon said Pay-roll Account at any time of the month during which said work and labor for <br />said City was performed when payment for the same shall be due." <br /> <br /> Section.2. That Section 3 of Ordinance No. 828 is hereby amended to read as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br /> "Section 3. That all demands for wages or salaries paid from the Pay-Roll <br />Account as hereinbefore provided for shall be audited by the Finance Committee of the <br /> <br />City Council and approved by said City Council in the same form and manner as other <br />demands against said City, a t the first regular meeting in the month following the ftli~ <br />of such demands, and said demands charged against the respective funds from which the <br />same should be paid, and the City Clerk and City Auditor shall be liable thereon for <br />any payment made from the Pay-roll Account which the said City Council shall not approve <br />as aforesaid." <br /> <br /> Section 3. That Section 4 of Ordinance No. 828 is hereby amended to read as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br /> /~Section 4. 'l~at the City Clerk and the City Auditor of said City shall each <br /> furnish a good and sufficient bond, approved by the City Council, in favor of the City <br /> of Santa Ana~ in addition to the bond now required of either of said officers, to cover <br /> the duties performed by them under this Ordinance, in the penal sum of Ten Thousand <br /> Dollars ($10,000.00), which bonds shall be filed with the Mayor of the City of Santa Aha. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this <br /> Ordinance shall be, and the same are hereby repealed. <br /> <br /> Section 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance <br /> and cause the same to be published three (3) times in the Santa Ana Daily Evening <br /> Register, a newspaper printed and published and generally circulated in said City, <br /> <br /> and th~ty (30) days after its final passage said ordinance shall take effect and be in <br />'force. <br /> <br /> The foregoing o~dinance is approved this Z6th day of August, 19Z9. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> E.
