<br />9ermit any person to sit or .stand at any place in or on said taxicab or motor bus
<br />where such person obstructs the driver's view of traffic ahead or to either side.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 26: When any permit is granted hereunder, the City Clerk shall
<br />issue to the grantee thereof a certificate thereof, giving the name and address
<br />of said grantee, the nature of the permit granted, and the date when the same was
<br />granted. AlS permits granted under the provisions of this ordinance shall
<br />expire at the end of the calendar year in which the same are granted.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 27: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to
<br />deposit, store or stand any taxicab as defined in this ordinance upon the streets,
<br />alleys or avenues of the City of Santa Ana, except at a taxicab stand as herein
<br />set forth, for any period of time longer than actually necessary to discharge its
<br />passenger or passengers at such a point as said passenger or passengers ~hall
<br />have indicated, or to take on a passenger or passengers, which said passenger or
<br />passengers at such time shall be in waiting, and then said stop shall be made onll
<br />at a traffic corner or in front of residence or place of business from which call
<br />originated.

<br /> SE~TLON 28: Every taxicab shall have painted or placed upon the door
<br />of said cab the name of the owner or the fictitious name under which the owner
<br />operates, ~ogether with the telephone number of said owner or company, the'~
<br />license number referred to in Section 1V, paragraph 4 of this ordinance, and the
<br />car number of the vehicle. All of the lettering mentioned in this paragraph
<br />shall be in letters not less than~two and one-quarter (2~) inches in height, and
<br />not less than five-sixteenths (8/16) of an inch stroke.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 29: Any driver employed to carry passengers to a definite point
<br />shall take'"'~he most direct route possible that will carry the passenger safely
<br />and expeditiously to his or her destination.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 50: It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to
<br />drive or operate any taxicab other than one bearing the color scheme, name,
<br />monogram, or insignia set forth in the application fvr the permit as herein pro-
<br />vided. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to change the
<br />color scheme, name, monogram, or insignia without first ma$ing a new application
<br />for a permit and the granting of said permit as in this ordinance provided by
<br />the Board.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 31: It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to pay the
<br />legal fare of any of the vehicles mentioned in this ordinance, after having hired
<br />the same, and any person who shall hire any vehicle herein defined with the intent
<br />to defraud the person from whom it is hired shall be punishable as in Section 3§
<br />hereof.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 32: Every person, firm or corporation holding a permit issued
<br />under the-teAs of this ordinance shall at all times 0e subject to the laws of
<br />the State of California and all ordinances of the City of Santa Aha not in con-
<br />flict with this ordinance.
<br />
<br /> SECTIgN SS: Whenever any person, firm or corporation is aggrieved by
<br />any ruling, act or omission on the part of the Board as herein provided for, such
<br />psrson, firm or corporation may, within five (8) days after such ruling, act or
<br />omission is made~ done or committed, appeal to the Council of the City of Santa
<br />Ana, by filing with the Council and Board written statements of the ruling or acts
<br />complained of and the reasons for taking such appeal. The Council shall thereupo
<br />appoint a time for hearing said matter, which time shall not be less than five (5)
<br />day~ nor more than ten (10) days f~om the time such statement is filed, and shall
<br />hear the s~me and receive ~he evidence in said matter,and make its findings withi~
<br />seven (7) days from the time of such hearing. The Council may affirm, modify
<br />or set aside the findings of the Board. The findings of the Council shall be
<br />final and conclusive.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 34: That Ordinance No. 929 of the City of Santa Ana, passed
<br />September 1Sth, 1930, and entitled "An Ordinance Regulating and Licensing the
<br />Business of Carrying Passengers for Hire in Motor Vehicles in the City of Santa
<br />Ana", and all ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent with this ordinance,
<br />be and the same are hereby repealed.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 55: Any person, firmer corporation violating any of the pro-
<br />visions or.this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor~ and upon conviction
<br />thereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than $300.00, or by imprison-
<br />ment in the County Jail of the County of Orange for a period of not more than
<br />one hundred and fifty (150) days, or by both fine and such imprisonment, and
<br />upon conviction, the permit issued to such person, firm or corporation may be
<br />revoked.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 86: The terms of this' ordinance shall ap~ly ~o and control as to
<br />all a~plications made subsequent to the date on which this ordinance goes into
<br />effect. All permits issued under the terms of an ordinance of the City of
<br />Santa Ana, No. 929 passed September 15th, 1930, and entitled "An Ordinance
<br />Regulating and Licensing the Business of Carrying Passengers for Hire in Motor
<br />Vehicles in the City of Santa Ana" shall continue in force for the period for
<br />which they were granted; provided, however, that whenever any exchange.of an
<br />existing location is desired by the holder of any permit, his application must be
<br />made and a~ted upon in accordance with the terms of this ordinance.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 37: If any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of
<br />.this ordinance is Tot any reason held to be unconstitutional, void or invalid,
<br />the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance shall not be affected
<br />thereby, it being the intent of the Council of the City of Santa Ana in adopting
<br />and approving this ordinance, that no portion thereof, or provisions or regulation~
<br />
