<br /> A~'ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, REGULATING
<br /> THE ISSUANCE OF PERMITS FOR FOOD-HANDLING BUSINESSES
<br /> AND THE EXTERMINATION OF AND PREVENTION OF RODENTS
<br /> IN SUCH ESTABLISHmeNTS; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR
<br /> T~ VUILATION THEREOF.
<br />
<br /> The City Council of the City of Santa Ama do ordain as follows:
<br /> Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation
<br /> owning, controlling, leasing, acting as agent for, conducting, operating or
<br /> managing any r~taurant, c~fe, lunch counter, cafeteria, soda fountain~ ice-cream
<br /> parlor, soft drink stand, fruit stand, grocery, popcorn, peanut, or other food
<br /> vending stands or stations, or other places in the City of Santa Ana, Californ!a~
<br /> where food is prepared for sale, sold, distributed, or ~isplayed for sale, to
<br /> conduct or operate, or cause or permit to be conducted, or operated in said City
<br /> of Santa Ana, California such restaurant, cafe, lunch co~nter, cafeteria, soda
<br /> fountain, ice-cream parlor, soft drink stand, fruit stand, grocery, popcorn~
<br /> peanut or any food vending stand or stations, or other places or vehicle where
<br /> food is prepared for sale, sold, distributed, or displayed for sale, or for any
<br /> person to ~ell, or offer for s~le, or cause or permit to be sold or offered for
<br /> sale, any food or drink therein or therefrom without first applying for and
<br /> receiving from the Health Department of 2he City of Santa Ama a ~ermit therefor~
<br /> in the manner hereinafter provided, or w~thont complying with the regulations
<br /> herein set forth. A permit, for which application is made under the provisions
<br /> of this ordinance, may be granted at cnw time during the year, but all permits
<br /> granted hereinunder shall expire on the 31st day of December of the year in which
<br /> the same is granted.

<br /> PROVIDED, that this ordinance shall not ap~!y to cigar stands or other
<br /> places or vehicles of business where ~o food of any kind or nature is offered for
<br /> sale or. sold other than candy or soft drinks received in sealed packages~ or boxe:
<br /> or bottles, where the seal or seals on said package or boxes are not broken pri~
<br /> to the sale thereof.
<br />
<br /> Section 2. tt shall be and is hereby declared to be the duty of every
<br />person, firm, copartnership and co~poratiom, owning, leasing, occupying~
<br />possessing or having charge of or dominion~-over any land, place, building or
<br />strncture, which is infested with rats, mice, gophers or ground squirrels, or as
<br />soon as the presemce of the same shall co~e to his, their or its knowledge
<br />at once to proceed and continue in good faith, either themselves or by employing
<br />an approved exterminator to exterminate and destroy such rodents, by poisonlng~
<br />trapping and other appropriate means, and to ts. Ice the necessary steps to prevent
<br />the harboriDg of all such rodents~ said extermination to be done under the supar-
<br />vision of the Health Department.

<br /> Section 3. That the local health officer and inspectors shall have
<br />authority and shall be permitted to enter into and upon any and all lands~ places~
<br />buildings and structures for the ~ur~ose of ascertainin~ whether the same are
<br />infested with such rodents and whether the req~irements of this act as to the
<br />extermination and destruction thereof are beinc complied with.
