<br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING PARAGRAPH 9, SECTION5
<br />OF ORDINANCE NO. 655 AND ANEND~.~NTS THERETO, AND
<br />ADDING PARAGRAPH ~ OF SECTION 5 OF ORDINANCE NO.
<br />658 AND AMENDMENTS THERETO ENTITLED: "AN ORDINANCE
<br />PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING OF BUSINESS, SHOWS,
<br />EXHIBITIONS AND GAMES, CONDUCTED OR C~(RIED ON IN
<br />THE CITY'0F SANTA ANA, FIXING THE RATE OF LICENSE
<br />THEREFOR, AND PROVIDING FOR COLLECTION THEREOF."
<br />
<br />The Board of Trustees of the City of Santa Ana ordain as follows:
<br />
<br />SECTION 1: That paragraph 9 of Section 5 of Ordinance No. 658 and
<br />
<br />amendments thereto, reading as follows:
<br />
<br /> "The'licenses in this ordinance provided whether monthly,
<br />quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, shall be due and payable
<br />to the City in advance on the dates heretofore specified, at
<br />the office of the City Clerk, and a penalty of ten per cent of
<br />the amount due shall be added to each license remaining unpaid
<br />fifteen days after it becomes due."

<br />is hereby repealed.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 2: That an a~ditional paragraph, known as paragraph 9, is
<br />hereby added to Section 5 of Ordinance No. 658 and amendments thereto, reading as
<br />
<br />follows:
<br />
<br />"All licenses specified in this ordinance shall be due and
<br />~ayable in advance; and every person who shall carry on, for ten
<br /> 10) days or less after the ~enth day of the first month of each
<br />quarter, any business or pursuit, for which a license is required,
<br />whether having previously had a ilcense therefor or not, without
<br />having first procured a license therefor, shall be required to
<br />pay the regular license herein provided for such buSiness or
<br />pursuit, and an additional fifty cents (50~) for such license; and
<br />every person or individual who shall carry on for more than ten
<br />(10) days after the tenth day of the first month of each quarter,
<br />any business or pursuit for which a license is required, whether
<br />having previously had a license therefor or not, without having
<br />first procured a license therefor, shall be required to pay the
<br />regular license herein provided for such business or pursuit, and
<br />an additional one dollar for ~uch liCense; an~ every person or
<br />individual who shall carry on, for more than thirty (30)'days after
<br />the first month of each quarter, any business or pursuit, for which
<br />a license is required, whether having previously had a license
<br />therefor or not, without having first procured a license therefor,
<br />shall be required to pay'the regular license herein provided for
<br />such business or pursuit, and an additional penalty equal to the
<br />amount of said license fee. It shall be the duty of the City Clerk
<br />to prepare and deliver to the City Marshal a list of all persons,
<br />firms or corporations where payment of license is delinquent more
<br />than thirty (30) days after payment thereof is due in any one
<br />quarter; and it shall be the duty of the City Marshal to issue
<br />complaint against those persons, firms, or corporations so delinquent
<br />more than thirty (30) days in payment of said license and contained
<br />upon lists so furnished by said City Clerk to said City Marshal.'' ~
<br />
<br />SECTION 3: ThAt all sections and provisions of Ordinance No. 658 as
<br />
<br />amended by Ordinances Nos. 710, 771, 832, 847, 873 and 877, except as herein
<br />repealed, shall remain and be in force and effect, and all provisions of said
<br />Ordinance No. 658 as amended, providing the penalty for a violation thereof, etc.
<br />shall be applicable to the provisions hereof.
<br />
<br /> SECTION 4: The.City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this
<br />ordinance and cause the same to be published three times in the Santa Ana Daily
<br />Evening Register, a daily newspaper printed, published and generally circulated
<br />within the City of Santa Aha, and the same shall take effect and be in force on a:
<br />after October let, 1933.

<br />The foregoing ordinance is signed by and approved by me this 18th day of
