RESOLUTION NO. 62-30 EXPRESSING THE OPPOSITION <br />OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, <br />CALIFORNIA, TO UNITED STATES SENATE BILL 1633 <br />CREATING A DEPARTMENT OF URBAN AFFAIRS AND HOUSING <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there has been much discussion about the creation of <br />a new Department of Urban Affairs and Housing and the creation of a <br />new Cabinet position for the Department Head of this Department; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the furtherance thereof United States Senate <br />Bill 1633 is reported to have been introduced to create such Depart- <br />ment and to implement the same. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: That the City Council of the <br />City of Santa Aha, after study, has determined that the need for such <br />a department, or even for the Cabinet position, does not exist; that <br />Senate Bill 1633 can only result in the needless creation of many <br />additional civil service positions and the appropriation and dis- <br />bursement of public funds which, in most cases, are unnecessary, <br />without in any way additionally assisting areas of real need, and in <br />the weakening of local government by the imposition of additional <br />federal controls baited with the feedback of federal funds in a time <br />of rising taxes and deficit spending, and for these reasons this <br />Council expresses its opposition to Senate Bill 1633 and urges a vote <br />against the same. <br /> <br /> PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Santa <br />Aha at its regular meeting held on the 5th day of February, 1962. <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />CLERK OF THE COUNCIL <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA) <br />COUNTY OF ORANGE ) <br />CITY OF SANTA ANA ) <br /> <br />SS <br /> <br /> I, MARION SUTTNER, do hereby certify that I am the Clerk of <br />the Council of the City of Santa Ana; that the foregoing Resolution <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
