' (e) That Section 5701 of said Code is hereby amended by adding thereto the
<br />following:
<br />
<br />"The foundations for all chimneys shall extend at least 12 inches
<br />below the natural grade line and shall be not less than 12 inches
<br />in thickness."
<br />
<br />(f) That there is hereby added to said Code a new section to be numbered
<br />
<br />2212, which shall read as follows:
<br />
<br />"Section 2212: As au additional and alternative plan for Type V
<br />Buildings within the following requirements the following con-
<br />structton shall be permissible:
<br />
<br />"Single wall and flat stud constr~etion for one-story buildings,
<br />401 sq. ft. or more, and not exceeding 1200 sq. ft.
<br />
<br />"Ail studs shall be 2" x 4" or equivalent thereto in cross-sectional
<br />area, and shall not be more than 13" between edges, and not more
<br />than 8t long between plates, and grooved not less than 1/2" to
<br />receive boards; all single wall or pax~tion boards shall be not
<br />less than 3/4" thick.
<br />
<br />"Where siding or other facing is applied over board walls there
<br />shall be applied one layer of watex--~roof paper not less than 14 lb.
<br />felt or equal between such siding or facing on all interior walls
<br />as required in Sec. 2205, Paragraph ~A".
<br />
<br />"Ail plates shall be 2" x 4" or equivalent thereto, and shall be
<br />lapped or tied with metal ties at least 1/4" by 1~ by 12" long with
<br />two nails on each side of Joint at all splices; all Joints or inter-
<br />sections shall be mitered., and butt Joints are prohibited unless
<br />tied with metal straps at least 6" on each side of Joint.
<br />
<br />"Ail outside wall boarding shall be carried down at least five inches
<br />on the Joist and nailed with five 5D common galvanized nails to each
<br />board, and floor Joists shall have a continuous 2 inch timber, at
<br />least the same width as Joist, spiked to the ends of each Joist with
<br />two 20D Common spikes to receive said boards and required nailing.
<br />
<br />"Foundations shall be required as in Section 220A~
<br />
<br />"Floor construction shall be required as in Section ~A and Amendments
<br />thereto.
<br />
<br />"Roof and ceiling shall be required as in Section 2205 and Amendments
<br />thereto.
<br />
<br />"Roof covering shall be required as in Section 2209.
<br />
<br />"No wal~ or partition shall have a total length of more than twenty feet
<br />without a lateral support by a partition or buttress at least six feet
<br />wi~eat right angles to wall, or partition or other approved bracing
<br />acceptable to the Building Inspector.
<br />
<br />"No board and flat stud construction shall be erected on lots, tracts,
<br />or plots of land where such lots, tracts, or plots of laud are restricte¢
<br />to type or value of building, unless such building meets all require-
<br />ments of such lots, tracts, or plots, or a one-hundred per cent of the
<br />signatures of property owners in such lots, tracts, or plots of laud,
<br />giving their consent to build Sueh type of construction."

<br />SECTION 5: That Ordinance No. 1010, entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANT~
<br />
<br />ANA REGULATING THE ERECTION, CONSTRUCTION, ENLARGEMENT, ALTERATION, REPAIR, MOVING,
<br />REMOVAL, DEMOLITION, CONVERSION, OCCUPANCY, EQUIP~T, USE, HEIGHT, AREA, AND MAINTENANC~
<br />OF ALLBUILDINGS AND/OR STRUCTURES IN THE CITY OF SANTA ANA; PROVIDING FOR THE ISSUANCE 0~
<br />PERMITS AND COLLECTION OF FEES THEREFOR: PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VI0~ATION THEHEOF;
<br />REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. $1~ OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA, AND ALL 0THEM ORDINANCES AND PARTS
<br />OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICTHEREWITH"', and all ordinances amendatory thereto, are hereby
<br />repealed.
<br />
<br /> SECTION A: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and
<br />shall cause the same to be published in three consecutive issues of the ORANGE COUNTY
<br />REPORTER, a daily newspaper, ~rlnted, published and circulated in the City of Santa Aha,
<br />and hereby designated for that purpose, and thirty (50) days thereafter shall take
<br />
<br />effect a~d be in force.
