ORDINANCE NO. 1030. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA REGULATING <br /> · THE USE OF PUBLIC HIGHWAYS WITHIN SAID CITY. <br /> <br />.THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA ANA DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> SECTION ~: All terms used in this ordinance shall be deemed and con- <br /> strued to have the meaning ascribed to them in the Vehicle Code of the State of <br /> California as enacted by the Legislature of the State of California as Chapter 27 <br /> of the Statutes of 1935, as amended. <br /> <br /> SECTION 2: The Council of the City of Santa Ana may by resolution, <br /> exercise any of the rights, powers, privileges or authority granted to them under <br /> the provisions of Division 9 of the Vehicle Code of the State of California, by <br /> resolution duly passed and adopted by said Council. <br /> <br /> .SECTION 5: All police officers of the City of Santa Ana are hereby <br /> given like power and authority with members of the California Highway Patrol as <br /> provided in the Vehicle Code of the State of California, for the regulation of <br /> traffic and travel on highways within the City of Santa Ar~%, and such police <br /> officers shall by voice, hand or other signal, direct all traffic within said Cit <br /> <br /> SECTION 4: The Superintendent of Streets of the City of Santa Aha shall <br /> have power and duty to place and maintain signs in conformity with the provisions <br /> of this ordinance and the Vehicle Code, as directed by resolution of the Council <br /> of this City. <br /> <br /> SECTION 5: CENTRAL TRAFFIC DISTRICTS AND THROUGH STREETS <br /> <br /> All streets included within such portions of the City of Santa Aha may <br /> hereafter be specified as such by resolution of this Council~ shall be respective] <br /> in Central Traffic District "A" or Central Traffic District "B", and all such <br /> streets as a~e hereafter by resolution designated as "through streets· shall be <br /> through streets in accordance with the provisions of the Vehicle Code. <br /> <br /> SECTION 8: FOLLOWING AUTHORIZED E~W~iGENCY VEHICLES PROHIBITED <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to operate a vehicle~ so as to follov <br /> any authorized emergency vehicle closer than 500 feet or to park any vehicle with- <br /> in 000 feet of any fire apparatus which has been stopped in answering a fire alarm <br /> <br /> It ~d~all be unlawful for any person operating a motor vehicle to operate <br /> or drive the same over or across any fire hose or fire apparatus lying or upon <br /> any public highway without first obtaining permission so to do from the Chief of <br /> the Fire Department or other officer in ch-~ge thereof. <br /> <br /> SECTION 7: It shall be unlawful for any person or persons as operator <br /> of a vehicle to conduct or Join in or be a member of any procession or assemblage <br /> on any public highway in the City of Santa Ana without a permit having been issued <br /> by the Chief of Police of said City for such procession or assemblage. <br /> <br /> Any funeral procession shall have the right of way over all other <br /> traffic, except authorized emergency vehicles. <br /> <br /> SECTION 8: MOTORCYCLES AND BICYCLES <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawfu% for any person traveling upon a bicycle, motorcycle <br /> or toy vehicle to cling to or attach himself or his vehicle to any other moving <br /> vehicle or street car on any highway in the City of Santa Ana. <br /> <br /> <br />
